- elawson634 contributionsDon't forget to climb the tower steps! This church is also beautiful...but after seeing one or two churches daily while visiting Spain, they begin to blur together. You start to disregard how amazing they really are. Especially when you're hot or exhausted from traipsing through Toledo's streets for hours! So take a moment to appreciate the interior. Relax for a few minutes. Because now you've got to climb the steps to the bell tower and admire Toledo from above! It's worth the 3 Euros for the experience though the views aren't especially breathtaking. But still, you're already there, so why not!?Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 October 2023
- johnmodestoModesto, California765 contributionsLovely church with beautiful views of Toledo from the twin towersThis is a magnificent church, large and beautifully decorated. The side chapels are lovely and merit examination. On your way up and down from the towers you access the second floor, which will provide another point of view of the church and it's chapels. Once on top there are two towers and a passage between them, the views of the city are exceptional. Entrance is 4 euros, the better deal is to buy the tourist wristband for 12 euros, which allows you to visit 7 ecclesiastical attractions.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 November 2023

The entree fee is €4 but it is included on the tourist wristband for €12 for 7 ecclesiastical attractions. The wristband was included as part of our bus day trip to Toledo from Madrid. My wife and I had just completed a leisurely lunch of charcuterie at El Medieval tapas bar around the corner from the church when we walked by it and decided to drop it. We were glad we did. It is beautiful inside with wonderful side altars. We didn’t take the time to go up to the tower, but we heard the views of Toledo are spectacular up there.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 January 2024
- Fiona SBoston, Massachusetts338 contributionsMy favorite bell tower!Great bell tower views. My favorite bell tower to date, except for Notre Dame in Paris back in the 80s before they spoiled the fun by putting up chicken wire safety fences over everything (and of course before the fire). Even if you are church-saturated, please take the time to stop at this church and climb the steps.Visited June 2023Travelled with familyWritten 31 May 2024

It is a large baroque church. Very attentive employees. Inside the church, several side chapels. Stairs lead to the bell tower, from which you can admire the beautiful panorama of Toledo. The views from the tower are just amazing. From the top of the tower there is a beautiful panorama of almost the entire city. I recommend going up the tower and looking at Toledo from above.

First of all, this church is really impressive with its dimensions. It is worth spending enough time inside since it is very rich. It is interesting also to climb to the roof to enjoy the view over the city of Toledo.

This church is beautiful with its interior decoration, not too overloaded with decor and church paraphernalia, which many Spanish churches are guilty of.
There is access to an observation deck with a beautiful view of the city.
The visit is included in the all-inclusive bracelet ticket.
We recommend.

We unfortunately decided to continue our city tour with the Saint Ildephonsus Church right after the visit to the cathedral - and it's hard to do better than the Primada Cathedral! Bad luck for Saint Ildephonsus who is the patron saint of the city.
The church is much less impressive; Built between 1629 and 1765 it belongs to the Jesuits, and is based on the architecture and design of the Gesu church in Rome - which is clearly seen in the two towers of the facade.
You can climb the towers to get a view of the city - but you have to want the steep steps and the narrow staircase. The view of the city can also be found elsewhere without climbing!
The interior has no really singular elements - a beautiful church but nothing more. It is nevertheless part of the tourist bracelet route and you therefore lose nothing by taking a look.

Having visited many churches and cathedrals, the opportunity to climb both towers made this church stand out. The church is ornate and the views of Toledo are amazing! Admission is 4 Euros or buy a bracelet for 12 Euros to visit 7 Toledo monuments. We noticed that not everyone was up to the challenge of climbing all the stairs to the top, so keep that in mind!

It is part of the "tourist bracelet" offer with which you can visit seven of the most representative monuments in Toledo. Large baroque temple where its impressive façade stands out. From the very spacious interior, you should admire its High Altar, chapels, some paintings and sculptures. Note that you can climb its towers and the views of the center of Toledo are unique

Is it worth the trouble and entry fee to see the view. That too of cramped quarters. Definitely no !

Are back packs allowed? If not is there some place to check them? Is photography with or without a flash allowed?
Written 21 August 2019
My daughter did have a small backpack. There was a security check at the entrance we used. I did not see a place to check bags. We used the camera on our phone. I remember seeing people with SLR type cameras, however I do not recall seeing the flash from cameras. I'm not sure if that is because our visit was early in the day and flash was not required, or because the other visitors were told they could not use flash.
