I had an up to date map from Tourist Information which shows these guys open on a Tuesday however when we visited the sign on the door read closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Most annoying as we wasted a fair bit of time finding this place.

We'd walked past this place several times but today noticed the door ajar. On exploring inside we were met by the most amazing and huge nativity tableau we had ever seen. We were all speechless as we discovered the contents of this tiny chapel. It had obviously been lovingly assembled and the detail of the figures and village scene complete with its flowing river. We loved it!

... and buy many oif their work for little price indeed! We were addressed by this gentleman, Antônio, in fron of the Catedral de Toledo, a craftsman inviting us to watch other collegues working nearby. Luckily, it was a Tueday- the only day they actually open their studios for ordinary people to see them working live. They work at Convento de Sta Isabel- a special area dedicated just for them. Toledo is known for Don Quijote de la Mancha- medieval city where warriors fought with iron swords and shields. It is the best quality iron ever made. These craftsmen worked on an iron base object, hammering tiny gold treads and sheets on them. The result: pendants, bracelets, earings, plates, shields, swords... anything you can imagine- high quality and a bargain- sooo cheap. We bought our gifts there: gold earings for 7 euros, crosses (pendants) for 12 euros, swords by 35 euros. You can even visit the convent if you want. DO NOT MISS IT.
