It is Muejar style built to enter the Walled City
In the world Nazari of great importance being an Albarna gate.
Built in the 14th century it is named for one side of the extramurals where a sun appears.
It hurts title for the cars parked in the homes and passing and parking next door.

The Puerta del Sol is one of the gates to the old town of Toledo. It has an arched gateway shaped like a key. It is part of an interesting part of the wall that surrounds this medieval city.

The Puerta del Sol is one of the old city gate and fortifications of Toledo built in the late 14th century by the Knights Hospitaller after the reconquest. Just above the arch of the gate is a medallion above the arch of the gate depicts the ordination of the Saint Ildephonsus.
The gate is truly monumental and gets it's name from the sun and the moon that were once painted on either side of this medallion. Worth seeing if in Toledo.

Puerta Del Sol is one of the city gates of Toledo which was built in the late 14th century and is another majestic entry into the beautiful city of Toledo.
A busy little area with cars going in and out of the gate and even a local bus which seems to just fit through here.
It may not be as popular as the San Marino or Alcantara, but definitely worth a visit.

Love it, beautiful historical site at the entrance of Toledo. Worth the stop for a pic or two. Then go up the stairs to the mezquita de cristo de la cruz

As you stand under the arch, if you look up you'll see a slot in the stone above your head, and the bottom edge of a thick, heavy piece of wood. Notice the businesslike metal spike in it - clearly meant to be brought crashing down on the skulls of enemies.

Puerta del Sol offers lovely views that are perfect for a leisurely stroll. Unlike some other tourist hotspots, it wasn’t crowded during my visit, allowing me to fully enjoy the scenery and soak in the atmosphere.
Whether you’re taking photos or just soaking up the sights, this spot is definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

The "Puerta del Sol" (Sun Gate) was built in the late 14th century. It looks east, where the sun rises, hence its name.
It's a nice view, if you are passing by.

Build in 14th century, on a previous one. Name is related to the image of sun and moon, close to S. Ildefonso one. Recommended.

Take the time to walk the full city perimeter of the walls so you can see all the pretty gateways. This is one of them.

What’s the best way to get around in Toledo?
Written 24 March 2018
Walking is THE best way to see the sights, the narrow streets and little shops.
Most of the attractions are close enough to walk. If you want to visit the Alcantara bridge and you're on the west part of Toledo like at Puerta del Cambron or the monastery of San Juan, just jump into a taxi as that would be a long walk. There are plenty of taxis buzzing around so it's never more than a few minutes' wait.
However, from the railway station, it's a long walk to the center, so best to get a taxi or a bus. After exiting the station, turn right and there is a bus that leaves every 5-10 mins.
Wear comfortable shoes! :-)
