Visited beautiful Magdalena Palace and enjoyed the guided tour although as all in Spanish it was changing in my level of Spanish.
Nevertheless to see a typically Scottish residence and hear the shared English/Spanish history was most interesting.
Well worth a visit.

I imagine it closes every Monday but we didn't check that so it was a bit disappointing. Took the 'train', got off at the palace to take some photos and got the next train back. Great views. One point worth remembering ' the sightseeing bus gets awful reviews and therefore we took an ordinary city service bus which was cheap as chips and you could just tap your debit card. Lovely gardens to enjoy on a sunny day, especially with kids to allow them to run around.

An interesting palace. The tour was concise, yet only in Spanish. There is an audio program available for mobile phones. Lots of time to look around. Unfortunately, the day we visited was foggy and rainy, so our view of the bay was limited. Taxis were allowed up to the building entrance, otherwise the small train leaves from the guard station.

This palace is located on a peninsula in Santander. You can book your ticket at the vicinity. It is beautiful inside the rooms. Firstly you get played a video, which has subtitles in English. Then you are brought around a tour of the palace, with a guide, telling you interesting facts about the place. There are two stories in the palace. If you want to look around inside, you should bear in mind that the guided part of the tour is only in Spanish. Also, there are two stories there, but you only get to see the ground floor.

The former summer residence of King Alfonso XIII until the end of his reign, and now owned by the city of Santander. The exterior of the building is built in a bizarre mix of different styles, especially the south-east facing side which looked like it could’ve been several houses joined together. There’s Neo-Gothic, Neo Renaissance, Flemish and Catabrian influences everywhere.

After watching the spanish novela "Gran Hotel", we found out that this place existed. Since we were planning to travel to northern Spain, we decided to visit this place. We were not interested in visiting the inside. The day was cold so staying around was hard since the wind was very cold and strong. It did not disappoint us.
We took a taxi to get there, so he dropped us off at the top. We walked down and went to the see the La Niña, La Pinta and La Santa Maria ships they had on display. It was cute. The school kids that were there really enjoyed it.

This is a former Royal Summer Palace which is now used by the local university for its summer language program. A visit here is only possible via a tour which was only in spanish, though the guide would answer questions in English. Not an “over-the-top” setting but a peasant one. The Palace is on the Peninsula de la Magdalena , which in itself is quite nice.

Unless you speak Spanish, do not bother.
We tried to use the English spoken QR code but there is no way of knowing which clip you should be listening to.
Unless you're Spanish, give this one a miss.

We did not actually go into the Palacio, just walked around it, so maybe I shouldn’t really be reviewing. - but I wanted to mention that it really is lovely on the peninsula and well worth a visit just for the views. We are planning to return tomorrow and walk around some more!

The palace itself is absolutely stunning and the view from the top is also gorgeous. It is a nice walk to the palace and around as well. You can go through the small forest or up the path. Either way, it is very nice. What shocked me were the ponds for the sea animals. Why in the world would you keep penguins and seals in small areas when the ocean is literally 50 meters away? It was a horrible sight to see. Especially because this is a public space so there were people smoking and crowds of people (noise pollution for the animal). This was heartbreaking and I truly hope that this is removed soon.
