My favourite place in Santander.

Although you need to pay to get into the museum, the exhibitions are informative about the local area however for me it is the aquarium that makes the trip. Worth a visit if you... read more

Really informative little museum and aquarium. A lot of the information has an English section so you can understand the display. The focus is on the marine life (small aquarium) as well as the local fishing industry and development of sea ports to include exploration, industry and war.

We tried to go to this place but it wasn't open and there was no reason given and there was no one there to explain either. Disappointing.

Super busy on a weekday afternoon during the summer holidays - screaming kids everwhere... The aquarium I quite enjoyed. The museum part was sparse and very little was labelled up for the non-spanish speakers. It may have been better if I could have translated any of it.

I'd like to add a photo but was near thrown out of the place for trying to take one of the centrepiece whale. An utter dump of a place with staff to match it. €8 entrance with a very unpleasant desk attendant and the rest of the staff are there to provide the same welcome. I rarely write reviews and... I happily spent over three hours here. However, it might not be all that fascinating if one were not interested in the sea, the creatures that live in the sea, and the boats and ships that sail on it.

We parked along the waterfront which was good for walking to this museum then back to city centre. It is a good museum, perfect size for couple of hours plus stop for a drink/snack. And good views from the roof of the bay.

We walked a fair distance from town to the museum. Our guidebook said it was open daily. Not on Mondays it isn't. Spanish people were also caught out and exasperated by this.

We took a taxi from downtown to see the Museo Maritimo del Cantabrico and the taxi cost about 5 euros only. The aquarium in the basement is entertaining, although it is not big. One is allowed to take non-flash photos there. However in other parts of the museum, one is not allowed to take any photos at all. I cannot... More

the museum is very interesting, for any age! our guide was amazing (unfortunately I do not remember his name) and he spoke very good English (something extremely rare in Spain, even on touristic places!)
