A beautiful old castle turned art gallery. There were some fantastic paintings by Gonzalo Chillida on display when we were there and the building itself is so lovely, right next to the sea. Great bar downstairs too.

We were likely fortunate in that we had not realised the magical wonders awaiting us at the rear end of this Castillo. We arrived and sauntered about the building admiring the structure and art and arrived to a quaint stoned stair case with a lovely white smoothed arch and off we went down the stairs! WOW I stood in absolute... More

The influence of Cesar Manrique is everywhere to be seen from the design of the display rooms in this renovated castle to stairs curving down to the most attractive toilets I have ever seen. Each had a large plant growing inside in a raised bed. I particularly enjoyed the sculptures but some of the abstracts were more difficult to understand.... More

A very good little museum, three languages covered on the site tour, but no English. Still not over Trafalgar?

This contemporary art museum is housed in an 18th century fort restored and renovated in 1975 at the initiative of César Manrique. It is a good 40 minute walk from the Gran Hotel area of Arrecife. The different exhibition rooms are spacious which allows the works to be displayed very effectively. They are also nice and cool which we appreciated... More

It is a fine example of Cesar Manrique's ability to create a beautiful gallery in a previously derelict fort. The fort's restoration has been tastefully achieved and includes a fine restaurant overlooking the sea where a British artist has placed some half submerged horses. Most of the artwork is abstract and perhaps not to everyone's liking but don't be put... More

Wonderful ancient castle and interesting collection. Enjoyed the sculpture especially. The Restuarant is wonderfully situated with windows all around giving a fantastic view of the waterside. The rider sculptures in the water are lovely. The ladies rest room had the most splendid plant area and large window view of the water and horsemen!

How can anybody give this amazing gallery a negative review. We were blown away by the wonderful space and equally wonderful exhibits. We ate in the spectular restaurant. Top class service, beautifully presented food and a view to die for of amazing horse sculptures in the sea. Just one thing - its not that obvious that you can go up... More

Well worth visiting for an hour or so. It is yet another example of how Manrique helped to create something wonderful. Out of this old castle comes an excellent art museum. A fantastic setting for some wonderful & thought provoking works of art.
