Overview
More
Located 400 metres high, on the Risco de Famara, the Mirador del Río is one of César Manrique's most representative architectural creations as it shows a series of artistic and architectural details and his eagerness to combine art and nature. It is located near the remains of an ancient military base that dates back to the end of the 19th Century. It is camouflaged on the rock in a way in which only a genius of Manrique's magnitude could conceive.

Visited 4th September. Spectacular views, nice viewing platforms and cafe. Spent around 30-40 minutes including getting a note to eat. Plenty free parking, toilets on site and a small gift shop.

A BIG BIG thanks to the strikers (NOT). Still although the main attraction was closed, the views are truly amazing & well worth going for on their own, & there FREE!! At least we have something to back for in the future.

I guess most of the reviews here are for the paid "attraction" you go in to see the views. However this was closed due to a strike for the entire 10 days of our holiday. But in this case it didn't matter - just climbed...More

Take all your time and hope for changing weather conditions which provide for different exceptional landscapes!!! And don't miss the most excellent mixed grill with a local red wine!!!

Striking... workers? Bask in the sun under a sun shade protected by security guards, whilst hard working tourists spend their earnings on car hire travelling to visit sites of cultural interest only to then find out they are closed due to industrial action. Most got...More

If you are planning on visiting this attraction CHECK before you set off that it is actually open. As with other attractions on Lanzarote at the moment this was closed due to industrial action.

After 30 minutes drive from Costa Teguise we were looking forward to visiting Mirador Del Rio. However, it wasn't open. Check before visiting. It's possible to still take some nice photographs of Isla Graciosa, but that's all we could do. We spent approximately 2 minutes...More

... yes but not that much better than the view from the road outside. If you have the combined ticket for the Lanzarote attractions, and if the day is not cloudy, it is anyway worth the time it takes. From the high cliffs you can...More
