The drive to the Los muchachos is a challenge on the stomach with windy roads and sharp turns. Once there the views are incredible above the clouds. Islands of Tenerife and others were clearly visible. There was plenty of parking available and the first few view points accessible by smaller children. No toilets or other facilities, just nature. Ideally you... More

Got to be done. The drive up through the clouds. The amazing views down onto the clouds or to the sea. And the observatories, but be aware it will often be bitterly cold!

When there are clouds at sea level, go up and you can walk in the sun all day! I walked several times on the cliffs of the Caldera .... It stays so beautiful and impressive. I could not leave the island without visiting the Roque de Los Muchachos. There are many different walks you can do over there. Or walk... More

Amazing views from a short walk on top of the world. But do try and get there early as the car park is small and demand is high.

The drive up can be a bit of an ordeal, very windy roads, and quite narrow and steep at times, BUT you get the most amazing views, as you climb through the clouds. At the top you have the Observatories, and then past them and a bit further up there is a small car park, and you can walk up... More

Incredible view! You are just above the clouds. Bit cold but is normal at this altitude. Last view point is the best.

This is a beutiful place to visit if there are no clouds and the sun is shining. Little wind is a big plus. Keep in mind that there are no cafes and toilets around.

Roque de los Muchachos is the highest point of the island of La Palma with 2426 Meters above sea level. You have an astonishing view of the Caldera de Taburiente, the Pico de Teide in Tenerife and on clear days also the islands of La Gomera and El Hierro. Since it is - together with Hawaii - one of the... More

Well we left Santa Cruz and the 45km journey took nearly 2 hours, the road is windy, slow going but with so many stunning views you are compelled to keep stopping. The terrain moves from thick wooded areas, to pine forest and then lunar landscape and with that comes the many weather patterns so take a variety of clothing with... More
