This really should be on your list when you come to LA PALMA. Amazing road to the top of Roque de Los Muchachos, and superb view.

We were lucky enough to go up to La Roque on a clear blue sunny day. The journey all the way from Tazacorte on the LP1 is spectacular with a good road but lots of hairpins. After turning off on to the LP4, the scenery...More

The views from here are fantastic, obviously it's going to be weather dependant when we went up it was cloudy and grey at sea level but by the time we were half way up we were above the clouds and in glorious sunshine. The drive...More

I went here twice and was amazed by its beauty. Going when it’s raining lower down is exceptionally mind blowing as you’re well above the clouds. Go early morning or early evening and you pretty much have the place to yourself:)

Drove up the winding road from Santa Cruz which took a while and quite a bit of concentration and eventually reached the little car park at the top, just metres from the Roque. The rock feature is ok but it’s setting is what makes it...More

We parked our car at Pico de la Cruz and walked over Pared de Roberto towards Roque de los Muchachos on the GR131 path (2x5km). Even though you start at approximately the same height as Roque de los Muchachos, the path goes constantly up and...More

Unfortubatly the day we went the clouds rolled in as we approached the summit. This meant that views of the island and the telescopes were lost in the clouds. However it was still a very interesting experience as I don’t think I have ever walked...More

I would not recommend taking a three year old. Too many places she could slip and fall breathtaking distances. IF you are determined to go anyway, for the love of all things good, carry her on your back. There is no hiking... More
