Park at the top and follow he path down. The first part of the path is loose material but there is a handrail and you soon come to a proper path with steps. There are a couple of timber sunbathing platforms you can use which are quite accessible. To see the turquoise coloured lagoon, you have to take a few steps down into a cave and the carefully scrabble down about four boulders or rocks. Walking boots or shoes are a good idea as there are slippery moss covered rocks encountered as well as some dog mess difficult to see in the low light. I'm nearly 60 and I managed ok - just take your time. I had a lovely swim in the lagoon which wasn't as cold as I expected. The water is crystal clear, so plan your route out of the water before you get in and you should be ok.

Charco Azul is a fair sized pool protected from the ocean by a natural rock barrier
- but refreshed by the ocean surging over the top of the barrier periodically. For
the latter reason it may be preferred to avoid swimming in that side of the pool!
Part of the pool is in a cave and part in the open air - with access via the cave
and involving limited headroom. Above the cave are some wooden platforms
where it is possible to "dry off" in the sunshine after the cool atmosphere in the
actual cave.
Access into the actual pool is challenging. I have not found an easy route but it
is worth the climb down as this is the most tranquil swimming experience on the
"island of tranquility" (ie El Hierro). The pool really does give off a blue colour.
Distance swimming is limited (perhaps ten metres) but certainly worthwhile in
the absence of swimming opportunities elsewhere.
The other challenging bit is the path down to the pool. It is made from rock lava
slabs - and so shoes are essential when traversing it. The car park is at quite a
height above the ocean - affording some views from the access path (although
not directly of the actual pool). There is no nearby public transport although
hikers from Tigaday or Las Puntas may appreciate bathing here en route.

Amazing and fabulous little place with caves so you can go snorkelling in them. IT is clear water and really easy to see things without the snorkel. The rocks around are fun to climb it is like a playground for adults and not too many people around.

There is a relatively steep path from the road which ziz-zags down to a set of three wooden sunbathing platforms one of which has a path running down to cave with a beautiful natural pool that you can dive into and another with a path to a relatively large and shallow natural pool

We’ll worth the walk down! Some wet shoes are a good idea, the bottom is slippery. The swim in the cave to the right was good but waves do break over at times….all good fun

Beautiful swimming spot, protected from the sea.
Several decked areas.
Interesting crabs around.
Parking at top, with steep steps down to it (so no wheelchair access)

Lots of steps lead down to the water and sunbathing platforms, be careful as parts of the handrails are missing in places! It is a pleasant enough place to spend a couple of hours but I was expecting to see fluorescent turquoise water and I didn't see that, maybe it needed to be sunnier? Getting into the water in the cave area is quite tricky (we were watching people struggling to get into the water) it was quite rough and tidal but there is a more open calmer pool which is a bit easier to access where we sat with our legs in the water enjoying the view, both are very rocky. It is free to visit, there are a coupled of boarded areas where you can sunbath but there are no other facilities there.

A must visit site. Beautiful spot to sun and swim, the walk down is fine , back up is obviously up hill so I would say an average level of fitness required but it’s not hard with a few stops on the way. Take a picnic.

Too cold to swim for my taste, but beautiful place! The view at sunset is very nice even from above (parking area)!
