Valle Gran Rey is worth a visit! Especially when staying in San Sebastian it is worth to plan a day trip. The Bus starts in the rather "dry" surrounding and goes up the hill, where the vegetation changes from colour brown to green. There is a nice National Park on the hilltop where you can do some nice walking/trekking. The... More

We took the coastal trail and walked here from San Sebastian - the hotel on the each serves only residents which seemed to be 100% german - the beach is ok but prefered the ambiance of san sebastian

Not sure I should share this as it's our secret getaway. Not for the english breakfast and chips with everything brigade. Fabulous for walkers as there are lots of well marked trails amongst the breathtaking gorges and the Garonjey national park. The beaches are wonderfully unspoilt with hardly any sun beds or loungers in sight. Food to suit every budget... More

We reached the village in purpose to find a place to sleep after the flight from Tenerif. We stayed at Laurasilva apatrments. The village closes very early. The day after we left to the mountains.

We made a very last minute booking so didn't know anything about where we were going. What a lucky choice it turned out to be. After landing in Tenerife it was a bus ride to the port, then onto the ferry for a 3/4 hour journey, then an hour taxi ride to the hotel. So be prepared for lots of... More

Access, like a lot of Gomerian towns is via a long and winding road. Many of the views on the way down are absolutely spectacular and well worth the journey. (Car hire to make the most of this is essential) The town itself is lovely with the usual plethora of bars and restaurants along the sea front. Parking is easy... More

The Lonely Planet recommends Playa de Alojera as the best beach on the island. That's rubbish. The beach at La Playa, in Valle Gran Rey is the best place to dip your toes, and even have a swim in the Atlantic. There are loads of amenities, and it's quiet.

Spectacular views, tortuous driving, plenty of stop off camera viewpoints - miradors. A must if you visit La Gomera.

3 couples and a friend travelled to this unspoilt island of la gomera if you can see past the long delay between landing and setting sail for la gomera then you can see this amazing island would definitely return .

The drive to Valle Gran Rey is extremely bendy with quite a few u bends however it is well worth the drive. The scenery was stunning & ever changing. When arriving in Valle Gran Rey there are a couple of beaches (bit too sandy for me!) With a promenade, numerous cafes & some really funky shops. This area has a... More
