One of my favourite Canary Islands! Amazing scenery, roads are really well looked after (no pot holes in sight!) & very friendly locals.

Fantastic scenic hike with tour guide ulli through the Garajonay national park.
Breathtaking views above & below the clouds. Steep paths/steps both up & down the mountains but ok for all ages. Would definitely recommend.
Just one thing to add,, please don’t end the tour asking for tips,, just ruins it for me.

Really spectacular volcanic vistas and scenery. All the walks we tackled were really strenuous even though we think we are pretty fit and used to walking in the UK. Fantastic walking weather in January through agave, prickly pear and date palms.

This is an incredible area of cloud forest. The landscape (and roads through it!!) are amazing. It is fantastic to see the forest in cloud but it is also very nice to see the views without the cloud. So if you have the time to go more than once (or, on some days, just to wait half an hour) then I recommend trying to see it in different weathers.

Stayed in La Gomera for 5 days and wished we were her for longer, the trekking g walks are amazing.
We walked in the Garajonay National Park on several walks and were very impressed with the variety of nature and the quietness of it all.
No litter, well sign posted and a bus service is available but check return times! A car may make more sense but research well to get it right.
Take plenty of water and snacks, not many options for food stops but those that exist are very good.
You need really good footwear too as some of the trails are very rocky, trek poles would be worth considereing.
Don't forget your camera!

The Park was created in 1981 to protect the best conserved sample of the Canarian Laurisilva (Laurel Forest). It covers 3986 hectares (9845 acres).

There are numerous Miradors, viewpoints within the Park, each with their own appeal and qualities.

For us the most memorable was Mirador Cabezo del Mocanillo, this is where visitors can see the remains of the devastation caused by the fire of 2012.

Another poignant Mirador is Mirador los Roques where the Memorial stands to commemorate the 20 people who lost their lives in the forest fire of 1984.

The Park is also home to a number of stunning rock formations and mountains including Alto de Garajonay and Los Roques.

One of the treasures within the Park is Laguna Grande, the recreational area with carvings and restaurants.

There are numerous well maintained and signposted, walks, treks and pathways throughout the Park. For those not as energetic as the hikers, a drive through the park is an easier way to enjoy the delights of the Park.

We drove through the Park on a number of times, either travelling from one side of island to the other or visiting the Park and all it's treasures. It was an absolute delight driving through roads that are likes tunnels with the overhead canopy of leaves and branches provided by the trees.

In 1986 became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in recognition of its natural value.

The Garajonay Visitor Centre is 9 kilometres north of the Park.
