Beautiful, white washed fishing port that is fairly unspoilt by tourism. One of our favourite places that we visited in Menorca. We walked out to the fort and then back to sit by the harbour. Not much more than one street of cafes/restaurants and shops.

Spent an enjoyable 3 or 4 hours walking around the area. Very pleasant. Found the restaurants a bit pricey when looking at menu of the day. Mainly because they all had lobster as a main feature. Don’t let that put you off. It is a must to visit.

A must visit when on the island. Beautiful village and tasteful white washed shops, bars and restaurants. Lovely to wander around the narrow streets. Came upon a church under removation which was worth a look in. Love it here

The British and the French held this plot of land for some time before the reconquest by Spain. Minorque is the French translation for Minorca. But then, Menorca is the British spelling for Minorca. And then, Mao is the spelling for Mahon. Yikes. And so we sally forth ...
The village of Fornells began as a place for workers and soldiers who built or defended the watchtower system and the coast. Pirates were a big threat circa the early 1600's. As this fortification was less than perfect, King Phillip IV added a castle to the mix but did not have sufficient funds to complete it.
Fast-forward (by a snail's pace) to the 1700's when Spain once again reclaimed the territory and proceeded to dismantle the defensive fortification.
But today, it is a perfectly beautiful white-washed clean and beautiful very small village of 1,000 residents who get to call this piece of paradise their home (although we have heard the winds can be wickedly horrible).
We visited at the end of July and, unfortunately, our visit did not coincide with the mega-village celebration of Saint Anthony. Horses, oversized-headed characters, feasts, celebrations, and a whole lot more take center stage here in the procession to the church.
Oh, and the beaches? These were just incredibly awesome. Such nice water. And, what pleasant little condo/apartments line the shore! I cannot truly imagine a more desirable place to vacation than here.
We are certain that there is a law in place in this village that mandates all buildings should be white-washed in white. It is exceptional and is the best decision the village council mandated.
Historically, the Governor's house is a prominent feature of the village. It seems this probably was the British Charles Stuart who was governor from 1798-1800.
So glad our Seaborn excursion options offered a trip here to see this fantastic village.

Great family get away this Easter, we weren’t a lovely local hotel with Kids Splash Park, Pool, Tennis, Mini Golf, Vollyball court and kids climbing wall. Unfortunately as it was still war in the season the Supermarket didn’t open until our last day and it was very windy and cold.
That said Menorca was beautiful and we had the beaches to ourselves. Car hire was very reasonable and made visiting local landmarks and attractions easier. The local Wiildlife Park rehomes a variety of rescued animals and made for a nice afternoon out.
By May I imagine all the amenities will have opened and this more sedate island will be at its peak both weather and attractions. Lovely friendly people and a great experience. Wish I’d had the chance to get out on the glass bottom boat and see the awesome aquatic life.
Lot’s of Gecko’s 🦎 and awesome birds 🦅.
A very green island despite the (mostly) dry rocky conditions, also saw lots of fantastic Cacti 🌵.

Fornells was an excellent stop on our visit to Menorca. Easy going seaside walk along the piers. The food at a local restaurant was good and the scenery was breathtaking.
We visited the Torre de Fornells and it was well worth the 8 euros it cost to look at the museum.

Spent the day in Fornells during our holiday in Menorca. Such a great place ideal if setting so relaxed and typically Spanish. If you like water sports then this is the place to come. Lots of fabulous places to eat and made to feel welcome. When we come back to Menorca we will be coming to stay here. There is no large hotel complexes or bustling by the Balearic sea here.

Fornells made a charming stop on my CAMI DE CAVALLS walk from Cap de Cavalleria-Cala Tirant-Platjes de Fornells.I enjoyed visiting the small fishermans- church and swimming of the rocks just north of the village.Buses to Mahon leave at 13.40;1600;1700 for around 3,60 and take one hour.
Many upmarket LLAGOSTA-CALDERETA(spiny -lobster- stew) restaurants and budget cafetaria's and bakeries as well.
Cala Tirant is the nearest sandy beach.

We were staying in a nearby Playa de Fornells, and used to come to Fornells for dinner. Very charming place, nice harbour, lots of restaurants and small shops. Nice ice cream at the port.

We would like to visit Menorca with our adult family to celebrate our 60th birthday's . We like lazing by the pool or beach with a little snorkelling thrown in and in the evening like to stroll to lively nightlife. Which resort would suit us best?
