The alleys are so narrow in the Old Town that you have to look up all the time not to miss the masterpieces of Palma's Art Nouveau architecture. Can Corbella from the early days of locally called Modernista period has New Moorish elements and the right kind of shop has established itself on the ground floor matching the style perfectly. Fornet de la Soca has another bakery on Placa Weyler opposite the former Gran Hotel, now Caixa Forum from the same time in history.

This beautiful building is difficult to miss as you're walking towards the Plaza de Cort. The light pink octagonal tower makes quite an impression when viewing it from afar. The façade was refurbished back in 1900 by an architect named Nicolau Lliteras in the Neo-Moorish style. This style is characterized by horseshoe arches, painted wood moldings, and stained glass windows. What's interesting is that the entire façade of this building is made of wood. It's also refreshing to see a different architectural style for a change. Something other than the sea of Gaudi influenced styles.

After walking a long distance in the middle of a hot day, we had paused for a rest in the Plaza de Cort, a small town square.
While resting there, we were able to spend some time admiring the Can Corbella, a tall, pink, stylish building.
Its arched windows and high tower were particular features which made this elegant building the stand-out structure in this location.

There are two beautiful Art Nouveau edifices you'll come upon when walking the old town Palma. First is the Can Forteza Rey which much reminds on Barcelona's Casa Battlo, and this is the second one - so beautiful and stylish with terrific shop on the ground level.

A very elaborate example of Modernista architecture, located in the old center. It is jammed close together with other buildings so it is hard to get a true perspective. We saw it on our architectural walking tour.

Can Corbella is another nice Neo-Moorish style building in Plaza de Cort at Mallorca. It is of pink color and the arches on the external attract passers-by at a distance. Can easily be found while strolling around the narrow streets in town.
