Most people tend to use this plaza on their way from the Cathedral area to the main bus terminal in Plaza Espanya. It is a very nice plaza with some imposing buildings and I'm sure it would be buzzing in the evening although we did not visit it at that time of the day.

It is surrounded by beautiful buildings, and when we were there, it was filled with merchants selling clothing and souvenirs.

Plaça Major is the main square and it is located in Palma, the main city in Majorca Island. It is a square located, where there was a monastery and it was finished in the 20th Century. It is built to seem typical arcaded squares in some Castilian towns. Nowadays, it has some bars and restaurants and some people making the statue, curious. A very known point in Palma.

A very busy square with cafes and restaurants. Many individual quirky craft stalls, a pleasant experience although not as grand as some of the Spanish squares

Placa Mayor is the main central square in every Spanish town, as well in overseas ex colonies where it's mostly called Plaza de Armas.
Usually, it's a big rectangular square with residences and offices on upper floors, while on the ground floor are bars, restaurants and markets from time to time.
That's just the case here, in Palma, however don't expect much. The square is pretty small and I'd rather consider it a walk through attraction than spending some time here.

We visited here while on a cruise. Beautiful square well worth visiting. Huge rectangular surrounding buildings with lovely windows. Lots of craft stalls in the centre with traders selling local crafts.

It is a big busy square in the center of Palma. Around there are restaurants, cafés and bars. Its surrounding is also a good area for shopping.

Placa Major. The heart of most spanish towns and cities. And that's the case here as well.
Shops, restaurants and market stalls all line up. A busy place where people meet. National and international. And it's a nice place, nice architecture all around.
But for great food or a great shopping deal you should head elsewhere. But for a walk, for some pics or to sit down for a drink to watch the world go by it's definitely a perfect spot.

The looks, the atmosphere...it just feels like vacation. An enjoyable spot in town. Surely not to be missed on your first visit to Palma.

I love the large Spanish squares but this is quite disappointing. It’s fairly small and lacks any sort of atmosphere. There’s a few cafes/ restaurants to satisfy culinary needs

This square is not major by any standards, not by size or restaurant options which seem to have diminished lately. Continueing straight through you reach livelier Sant Miquel shopping street full of shoestores.
At the far end are stairs leading down to La Rambla boulevard which doesn't either make a great impression.
