The biggest part of this casino for me is the lack of a poker room where one can play cash games. Lots of machines to play with but no poker. There were a couple of blackjack tables but again I came to play poker. The only place I found to play poker was in Madrid.

Visited CDM whilst enjoying a short break in Palma de Mallorca so don’t have a huge deal of experiences there to report on but here goes! I arrived at around 1am on a Wednesday night the week before Christmas so I went in absolutely ready for there to be no action. I’d looked it up and knew that it would be open until 4am at least so even if I wanted to get a late drink and waste a few quid on the tables I knew I could do that. I was welcomed at the front desk in a friendly manner and provided my passport to gain access to the casino floor. To the left of reception is the slots area behind a frosted glass type barrier to prevent anyone from the outside seeing in. You walk around to the main floor and it opens right out into a very wide room. There is a scattering of tables in the middle for roulette and blackjack with a long wide bar in the middle. To the far right is the poker and what I came for. There were two tables running 2-2 No limit hold em. I reserved a seat and headed to the cash window to get some chips as I only had my bank card. The downside is they take a 4% commission for withdrawing cash, which for my €200 was €8 but I had to do it. The game was good. The atmosphere was fine. Being the only Englishman there it was me against them as everyone else spoke Spanish but the dealer and the table showed patience and translated the bets into English for me. I didn’t need this help and being the outsider actually helped me as it gave me an unpredictability in comparison to the groups somewhat predictable approach in trying to go for the Englishman’s money lol! The bar staff don’t seem to leave the bar as I had to ask the floorman to call a waitress over for some drinks. Prices are standard for a casino. The last two hands were called at 03:50am and they proceeded to finish up with everyone clearing out swiftly at 4! I had about half a pint left and they made sure I drank it fast! Overall it was fine. I’d go again as the game was good! It’s the only casino for proper games as all the other places scattered around are slots places. So yeah, not bad.

We went to the Casino de Mallorca in Porto Pi, a shopping centre which is closed at night with an ugly parking lot. Until 3 years ago, the casino was situated in the beautiful Urbanizacion Sol de Mallorca, about 15 min. from Palma. It looked like a casino with a splendid entrance with beautiful cars parked up front and fantastic palm tree. When you entered it was gorgeous and you really in a special place. Now it is quite the opposite. It is in an ugly place, no glamour at all and I think the dress code is non existent. People in ugly summer attire with tank tops and no style at all. I guess it also comes with the place. What a pity to have moved it to Porto Pi.
