On one hand sleepy fishing town with a few seafood restaurants and beautiful historic buildings on the other hand industrial port for Donostia and the area. Went there multiple times on cargo ships. Got to go ashore to Pasaia, Lezo, Errenteria and Donostia. The first and last being the most touristy. Errenteria, located South of Pasaia is good for shopping (mall) and going to bars that are almost only frequented by the locals.

Oceania docks in the industrial Pasajes Port, not in San Sebastian which doesn't have a port. There are several docks in this port and not knowing which dock it would be, I found it easier to visit San Sebastian with a ship's excursion. It's about a 25 minute drive to San Sebastian. It was difficult to know ahead of time if this industrial port would have taxi service and where the bus stops to the city would be. Oceania did provide a free shuttle service to San Sebastian, dropping passengers off at the roundabout near Ondarreta Beach.

The area was lovely and we booked it because it was about half the price of getting accommodation in Donostia/San Sebastián proper. Just a quick ferry and bus ride away to San Sebastián. Pasai Donibane is a gorgeous fishing village with great views, lovely local restaurants and people. Would go back tomorrow!

Pasai Donibane is a little fisher town located close to Donostia/San Sebastian, in Gipuzkoa Region, in Basque Country. It is one of the villages of Pasajes/Pasaia and it is the most beautiful of them. In fact, in the village, you can see some churches, the house of Victor Hugo and the main square (very nice old place with some bars and restaurants to eat or drink something in the terrace) and walk around the coast line until almost the lighthouse. From this walk, you can see great views of the bay, really wonderful. Also, from the village, you can see Pasajes de San Pedro located in front of the bay (very beautiful views) and you can go by boat to the other side, very nice little excursion.

We really enjoyed visiting this beautiful fishing village for lunch after completing the strenuous coastal walk to Pasaia from San Sebastián. You can take the boat for 80 cents per person from the end of the trail at Pasaia San Pedro over to Pasai San Juan (or Donibane in Basque). There are some excellent restaurants in the village as well as some more casual choices.

Friends took us to visit this place while visiting from Australia. We loved the old winding lanes and beautiful bay. We had lunch in the square overlooking the water. We took a boat ride across the bay for 80c. A beautiful day!

We stayed in this lovely village for several days in October. While San Sebastián was interesting, I had a sufficient taste of Pintxos bars after one visit and looked forward to returning to the relaxing pace of Pasai Donibane. There are several excellent restaurants in this town, which can only be reached by ferry (.80 € each way, about a 5 minute trip). The narrow streets and passageways, 16th century buildings, steep stairways up the hillsides, and magnificent views of the harbor are photo ready. If you stay here, there are good bus connections to Hondorribia and other charming towns through Erenterria. The bus stops are near the car park at the end of the village.

Came here for lunch after doing the hike over the hill from San Sebastián. You take a little ferry over for .80 euros it comes and goes every 5 mins except during siesta time.
Had a great day and loved it.

small towns opposite each other on the river -maritime festival - easy to get to on bus from San Sebastien and definitely worth a visit - especially if time it for the festival in June
