Loved this gem of a museum

Agree with other positive reviewers about the quality and overall experience with this lovely museum. Preferred it to the busy Guggenheim. Went on a Wednesday and was free.

First of all if your traveling on a tight budget, visit the museum on Wednesday - that day the entrance is for free. Doing so, moreover, gives you the possibility to invest one euro for the audio-guide. If your good with english (the speaker has a rather strong british accent) the audio-guide really adds to the cultural experience and the... More

The Museum is small, but has a very nice collection of Spanish and Basque painters and sculptors. They are having a "Japanism" exhibit and a modern art exhibit.. it is definitely worth the visit..

After visiting the very very busy Guggenheim the peace and tranquillity of the Bilbao Fine Arts museum was wonderful. The collection was extremely varied dating from the 16th century to current day art and was focused on Spanish artists. The coffee shop and gallery retail shop were also excellent

The Renaissance paintings are nice, but one has seen those sorts everywhere; the modern 20th and 21st century collection in the 'new' part of the museum though is utterly stunning! There was also a great Japanese culture temporary exhibit while we were there. Go to the Guggenheim, but don't miss this place.

if you prefer Old Masters rather than contemporary installations, this is the museum to visit. It sits within a beautiful park, and it's walking distance from the Guggenheim.

Our trip here was saved by the fascinating mini temporary exhibition "Japan & Japanism" a private collection of various Japanese artefacts and artworks. The permanent collection requires a stronger stomach, particularly for the earlier religious eras, but there are some interesting perspectives on aspects of art (perspective for one, ironically), and some interesting and highly stylised Basque works. My favourite... More

We obviously came to town to see the Guggenheim which we loved. We bought the combo ticket for this museum with the Guggenheim and just had a wonderful time. Good painting collection over several centuries and an excellent gift shop. The cafe just outside made coffee and pinchos and served good wine by the glass for 2 euros.

Many interesting pieces to see. Excellent and very interesting! No dislikes, very interested in Asian artifacts, so was right up our alley. Very fun.

This museum has an interesting, high quality collection. It is definitely worth a visit. It is quite near the Guggenheim so you would have time for at least a quick visit.
