Friendly neighbourhood bars and restaurants, friendly residents, lively night life but never threatening - our favourite spot was the small square at the side of the Archaeological museum - we went there every night to sit outside and drink wine and eat tasty pintxos

Do go here to see a maze of oold and pretty buildings, lovely eateries, shops and the plaza nueva which as its heart....the square is full of tapas bars and is really lovely. A must! Cobbles in part so wear good shoes, not heels!

Walking around the narrow streets in the old town, admiring the great old buildings, visiting as many as you can tiny pintxos bars, cafes, old churches, the atmosphere especially coming up to Christmas is really something everyone should try and experience

The old charm and history are wonderful. Stick with the Pintxo bars serving locals...don't fall for the fancy ones because it's all show and no flavor.

I urge all tourists to visit the Old Town of Bilbao. The structures, the market, and so much more are simply amazing. We came from Begonia and had to go down 300 (according to one local we encountered), but it was worth going down to...More

Sorry I cannot be of any help. I was looking at the sights and enjoying the food, so didn't notice any hair salons of which I am sure there are many. Good luck.

Likely to be cold and wet. Low around 6-8 deg C but that's warmer than UK.

Most probably rainy, cool weather but not freezing. Could be foggy as well.
