    A great place to explore
A really fun place to explore. We frequently got lost in the meandering streets but this was all fun. Shops, bars, coffee shops, markets, really fascinating we returned a second time to try specific places to eat and shop. Really worth setting aside a few hours to explore the area

    A place very typical
We stayed in this town just for one day. We walked near the river and after we walked in the small streets in the old town. The houses are very close to each other. They are very typical. There’s a lot of shops here too. It’s nice to stroll here.

    Bilbao Old Town
I think this is supposed to refer to the Metro Station serving the Old Town, which it conveniently does. One very impressive aspect of the whole city is the "Bilbao WiFi" which seems to cover most of the city, a good service too, which is quite a bit of infrastructure. The Old Town itself is very well presented, almost wall-to-wall Cafes, Restaurants, Shops & Apartments. Always busy and very pleasant

Fantastic part of Bilbao. A must visit if you are here. Lots to do…the town kept us busy for 3 weeks.

The old city center is nice (I visited with a local (privatised) guide), but as the population is getting older, some shops are closing due to lack of new shopkeepers, and the younger people go to shopping centers elsewhere, of shop online.
A shame because this is creating empty and boarded up ground floor buildings.

It is well worth taking a stroll through this section (old town) of Bilbao. There are a variety of shops, and, most notably Pintxos bars. The more popular Pintxos bars can get very, very crowded.

The "Old Town" consists of the original seven streets of Bilbao dating back to the 14th century. Narrow cobbled streets lined with a huge variety of restaurants, bars, shops etc. Something for everyone.
The Plaza Nueva and Plaza Arenal are focal points for local families, particularly at weekends, and provide somewhere to take a break, have a glass of wine and some pintxos before launching yourself back into the frey in the evening when everyone spills out of the bars and into the streets socialising.
