wonderful part of town about 20 mins from the Guggenheim. You can talk a tram as well. Great shops and cafes, check hours since they close in the afternoon but most reopen around 5 or 6 for the evening.
Worth many short visits to explore this lovely grid of streets at different times of day. Enjoy the shops, bars and restaurants at your leisure. Stay out of the squares for lower prices.

Fantastic for sight seeing and the most amazing bars and pinchos!! Really worth visiting. We walked there every day from the hotel. We were lucky with the weather and strolling along to the Casco Viejo along the river was such a pleasure!
A typical spanish old town center. The buildings are beautiful and well preserved. However comparing to other spanish town centers it has nothing different. I visited during the siesta and thus many shops and churches were closed. Perhaps that would make all the difference.
Our hotel was in this area, so easy to find restaurants and pinxtos bars within walking distance. Good selection of shops, a small supermarket and squares in which to while away the hours. Good walk along the tidal river, both sides.
