Stumbled across this museum whilst walking around the Santa Catalina Headland. Excellent display of a Roman temple including bathhouse. A small entrance fee is charged but it is a hour well spent.

I was surprised to find the ruins UNDER the plaza but then what better way to preserve them. I was impressed by the baths and luckily someone had the forethought to preserve history.

As others have said, you need a degree of imagination here - several degrees in fact. Don't think you will see something like Bath. There are some foundations only. However, the place has been proudly preserved in a beautiful modern museum. There is an interesting video presentation in Spanish, and there are interesting panels, again in Spanish. It is surprising... More

Here are reproduced the inner order of the bathing sequence apodyterium (changing rooms), tepidarium (warm room), frigidarium (cold), calidarium, sudatio (sauna). The baths were used to invigorate the body with baths and saunas.

Happened across this place on Sunday afternoon and got in for free (though I would have paid as I was very impressed). Yes, it's true all the info and introductory video are in Spanish but they do have quite informative leaflets in other languages too. If you like Roman history it's definitely worth a visit, if only to see the... More

$2.50 gets you in to see these old Roman baths or what is left of them. Very interesting walking around but a lot of imagination is required. All the information is in Spanish and no other language. It would have made it far better if it has been in several languages or even an audio tour was offered. In some... More

A small Roman public bath, close to the beach, signs the limits of an old Roman town in the hill now known as Cimadevilla, in the Spanish northern city of Gijón. Now a public museum, the Roman Baths is a recommended visit for any person interested in the remains of the history of the past.

Nice museum of the roman baths in Gijon. Small, but informative. Everything is in Spanish, so it is preferable if you do know some Spanish. We only noticed the museum by passing it on our way to the san Pedro Church.....

This was an interesting little museum, staff is helpful and informative. This was an incredible discovery, glad we have archeologists who are willing to investigate and teach us so much about history.
