Wonderful place. Architecture curtesy of Oscar Nemeiyer, probably one of his last creations. Brad Pitt was so enamoured he came to see it for himself! Well worth a visit.

A stylish building on the outskirts of Aviles, in a rather Industrial estate, overlooking a jetty. The building being a complete contrast to the down trodden area as a whole so rather unexpected gem.

Going in or out of the city of Aviles, this should be one of your stops. Personally, I think it's a reason to make a trip to the city - all by itself. This may not be so striking on a cloudy, overcast day, but our visit had these structures outlined against a cloudless blue sky. They were just mesmerizing.... More

From afar the place is very aesthetically pleasing. Beautiful architecture but cold cold cold feeling and I wish there was something to break up the huge expanse of concrete leading to the centro's entrance. Looks like a parking lot up close. The bridge across the waterway is a stark contrast to the colorful bridge over the highway. Just beautiful effect... More

Brazilian architect, Oscar Niemeyer designed this arts complex a few years before he died at age 104. It is quite some swan song, all impressive buildings, the main dome gallery is a wonderful space and every exhibition in there since opening has been impressive. A restaurant on a 'corkscrew' plinth' and a great auditorium with a small gallery that has... More

This beautiful new structure is the focus point of art and culture for Aviles. Since the Niemeyer opened its doors in 2014 it has brought with it a constant stream of talent with it. Photo exhibitions, jazz concerts, ballet, poetry, lectures and art exhibits from all around the world. There is always something interesting to see both inside and out... More

I am a fan of Niemeyer's work, and architecture in general, so this appealed to me greatly and it didn't disappoint! There are exhibitions and performances that are held at the Centro, in the different buildings. There is a café with great food and very reasonable prices! In the tower there is also a restaurant ( but I didn't go... More

A must see - take time to understand what the building stands for or what its meaning is - then you will appreciate it

Fabulous building. If you are into photography this building has it all. The lines are amazing and the setting intersting, what a pity it is not more well known?

Just returned from a two week cruise on board Braemar and the stop in Aviles was something special, the cruise ship being small moored at the end of the estuary right adjacent to the Centro Niemeyer cultural centre which unfortunately was not open, however the old town of Aviles is beautiful, it is a short walk across a footbridge and...
