It's a fascinating sculpture with a water feature that offers more than first meets the eye. We spent a lot more time exploring and enjoying this monument than I would have ever have guessed was possible.

At the end of the square where the Basillica is located. It's more spectacular than photos suggest, as the water is genuinely cascading all the time. Nice photo opp :)

Zaragoza is a wonderful walk-about city. The large place in front of the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar has this amazing waterfall.

Nice fountain in Zaragoza in El Pilar Plaza. Looks like a Glacier and water is melting. At night time with lights, it is even better.

This modern tribute to Christopher Columbus, for me, provided a perfect representation of the impact of Columbus' explorations. The pale blue of the water adds both relief from the heat and beautiful colour to the plaza.

This is a fountain representing the silhouette of some countries in Caribbean as the Pilar celebration is same as when Columbus first arrived to America. It is original and if you are coming to Pilar Basilica you will find it. It is ok but not more.

When you have been to the Pilar and Plaza, head to the end of the plaza to see the amazing fountain. A wonderful blend of the new meeting the old in the city centre. Bravo to the architects.

The fountain is at one end of the Plaza and just behind it are the Roman Ruins and the Mercado. So the fountain is sort of unavoidable for most tourists anywhere near the centre of the city. Quite relaxing to hear the sound of water on a hot summer afternoon.
