Most Europeans know about Catalan and Basque nationalist movements. The fact there are similar sentiments in Andalucia is less well-known. After the end of the Franco period in 1975 efforts to secure at least some degree of autonomy resulted in the establishment of a regional parliament. Since 1992 it is housed in the former hospital of the five wounds of the redeemer.
I especially liked the gardens in front of the parliament. The premises are fenced off. The building does not look very inviting. Like what some people would say about a hospital: if you get in, you never get out unless dead in a coffin. Refering to politicians not easily giving up their plush seats.

Government building that used to be a hospital. You can’t go in as far as I’m aware but you do notice as you pass in your taxi. So admire the building where the decisions are often made.

This is the parliament building as this was hospital earlier it looks like a hospital. Nothing special.

As you go from north Europe to South, you notice the distance between government and people. In most countries the parliament is a building you can visit. This is not the case of the Andalucian Parliament. Nice building, but difficult to see.

This was some large and grand building fit for only politicians and they have done it well. The building was not open to the public but impressive from outside.

We wandered here from our hotel near city center to see the old Macarena wall. We did not see any big deal made by locals of this ancient wall and it looks abandoned.unlike the one in Xi’an. This long trek did yield two pleasant findings in the vicinity. The majestic Basilica de Macarena and parliament building of Andalucía. At first we thought it was s hospital because of the signs in Spanish (there’s a more modern hospital close by). Many streets are named after doctors. We later learned that this architecturally impressive building is the seat of regional government.

This grand building now houses the Andalucian Parliament but was originally a hospital. It was constructed in the 16th century and is in Renaissance style.

I would have to admit that the most impressive part of the Parliament, and the building itself, has to be the extensive façade and the details that seem to go on forever into the distance.
A few, slow photographic moments, will capture the structure of this semi Renaissance, Baroque style architecture, which is similar to the Plaza de España.

We came across this place whilst walking around Seville. It is a lovely building across from Macarena and the old wall. I wondered what it was.
I liked the area, which I have not been to before, and plan to go back there to see more of it, when I am in Seville again next year.

We walked past this very impressive building as it was very near to our hotel. The architecture is really impressive. I've just learnt that this used to be a hospital, quiet a different place now.
