Together with the Alhambra and the Cathedral, it is one of the most emblematic monuments in the town. It is the living testimony of a long history starting with the discovery of the relics of St. Cecilius and the “leaden books”, and displaying a multitude of other curiosities. Join the guided tour of an impressive monument, which fascinates and is permeated of life and tranquility. Most significantly, it is a place for the conciliation of diverse cultures. We were not on a tour. My wife and I stayed at a VRBO. It is a wonderful place to visit. Lots of sights. Great food. We did see a Flamenco show - very talented dancers.

Peaceful monastery in a beautiful setting, high in the hills above Granada. Lovely cloisters and crypt, interesting sculptures in the garden. Well worth a visit

Interesting visit to this abbey. The tour is self-guided and you download it on to your phone via a QR code. You can visit the XVII century abbey as well as the caves underneath which were important to Christianity in the Granada area. Open 10.30-2.00 and 4.00-5.30 when we visited but check opening times. There is a bus that takes you up there but we took a taxi and then walked back through Sacromonte - it would be a long, hot walk up there.

We found this abbey by chance on the map and thought we would visit, so glad we did.
It has a guide to download and it explains the various stops on the tour, it was all very interesting, the highlight being the underground caves that are part of the abbey.
Really well done and still a working abbey.
Well worth a visit.

The abbey is pleasant quiet place. You can learn here about its importance to christianity in Granada area, both in the ancient history and the current times. Listen crefully to any mention of the "Lead Books", it explains you a lot. E.g. why are ther so many Stars of David? You can also enjoy both traditional and modern christianity inspired artworks as well.

At the time of our visit the place was opend since 10.00 to 14.00 and then since 15.30 to 19.00. Tours are self-guided, you can download the audioguide, but be aware - inside the abbey there is almost none mobile data signal and the local free wifi works just in a +/- 5 m petrimeter of the ticket office, then weaknes rapidly.

Arrived late in the day, having seen it in the distance and not known what it was. Fascinating story of fake documents ( ‘lead books’) which when revealed as fake, led to the halting of the massive building project. Find the holy caves where a saint was said to have been martyred. Excellent viewpoint outside
