Cuesta de Gomerez is the street that leads to the Alhambra. We turned into this street from Plaza Nueva and followed it all the way uphill to the Gate Puerta de las Granadas. The narrow street itself is quite unremarkable, really, apart from the fact that there are several shops on either side, selling mostly souvenirs, or other goods, such as food and drinks. The Gate is a sizeable monument with a large gate in the middle and two smaller ones on either side. When you go through and follow the path, which takes you through some nice gardens, you will eventually end up in the main entry to the Alhambra proper complex.

Walking to the Alhambra Y Generalife, the street named Cuesta De Gomerez goes up to the Alhambra. At the end of that street as you're walking uphill, is a gate wall with 3 arched entrances, and just beyond that gate are 3 paths. Steps that go up to the right, a paved level path to the middle, and a steep, earthen path to left. While somewhat steep, the earthen path is a short, zig-zag walk to the Puerta de Justicia entrance to the Alhambra. Much quicker.

Some nice shops on the street, a bit pricier than some but also some quality souvenirs available. But the treat is after you pass through the gate and find yourself in a shady woodland garden, the narrow road leading you gently uphill to the top of the Alhambra. Many benches to stop for a cool break.

Our hotel was on this little street and I think it is a fabulous place to be located during a stay in Granada.

We walked down from Alhambra to the Carrera del Daro looking for a restaurant. It's very beautiful in the fall, even in december, the trees still had autumn color. You will find a fountain at every crossing. There is also a ruin of a gate "Puerta de Bibarrambla". Local comes for jogging, cycling or just letting the dog out.

Since I was a child it has been part of my family outings. It is the way I like the most to access the monumental area of the Alhambra on foot. It starts from Plaza Nueva and arrives at the Puerta de la Justicia itself that gives access to the medina.
