Really odd and not particularly attractive....but striking and you can’t miss it. I did not get a chance to find out it’s history or purpose.

Three chimneys altogether but this is the highest. Lovingly restored and well worth a visit. Plumbob seen through glass windows at base responds to the sway of the chimney in high winds

The Chimney of the Guindos is an old chimney completed in 1923. It is located next to San Andres beach.

The 106-meter high construction was made from refractory bricks to resist acids. Its function was to transfer the toxic gases from the factory, which melted the lead from the mines of the province of Jaen, to a higher atmosphere.

The factory was closed in 1979 and demolished but the chimney remained as a symbol of the Malaga industry.

Not sure of the importance of Chimenea de los Guindos but it’s a prominent structure on the promenade at Malaga. Looks a little out of place but very well renovated

Unusual photo opportunity right on the beach. Worth to come closer if you are around. There is also a nice promenade and lots of fish restaurants.

Although this chimney is quite a standout purely for the way it soars way above the surrounding skyline, it’s the surrounding promenade,

The walkway runs from the west where it starts along past the chimney, for about 4kms’, there are some really nice Cherrinquitos, beach restaurants, beautiful flat sandy beaches,

If you are in Malaga and want somewhere to realax, suntan and swim this is one of the really good spots,

Enjoy

Interesting chimney to look at but not much to write about here it’s part of the beach skyline. Can’t say I’d recommend it but if you’re passing stop for a look

Knowing the location of the chimney, it's very interesting. This old 106 m tall chimney of 1923 is located on the boulevard of San Andres beach between two modern 7 floor flats. You can park you car on the street. The beach area is very nice to walk around.

It's a chimney...
... but one with not just an industrial past, but with a charming story to go with it.
A Spanish chap, back in the day, climbed up to the top with paintpot & bruch in hand.
His intention was to write, in spanish 'Will you Marry Me Monica?' however, he decided once up the chimney, to write her name first... handy, as he ran out of paint!!!

The guide on the Bike Tour we were on, said that Spanish TV, in recent years, where interested to know if;
... they did get married
... & were they still alive
... & where they still together
... & were they still in the area

They got there answer, it was Yes to 3, but they had moved away (I forget where he said too)
