It's a steep incline as you wind up the hill, but the views as you go are well worth the effort. There are several vantage points before you reach the top, looking into the bull ring, along the coast and across the city. A steady walk will take you about 20 minutes, and it's worth exploring the castillo at the... More

Quite a long walk up to the castle. Not really too much to see inside the castle, but the city view was great.

Top of the hill castle. You have to walk uphill some 20 minutes but the views from the Gibralfaro are fantastic. Best to buy the ticket together with the Alcazaba entrance.

At night from below it is beautiful sight over Malaga. And from it during the day you get a wonderful view of the city and the coast. We took a taxi to the top and walked down the path that descends along the south side. Lots of history, from Roman times thru today. Worth it.

Climbed to the top of Gibralfaro approx. 350 feet above sea level, and took the HO/HO bus back down. This was Stop 10 and we got off at Stop 12 and worked our way through the old city again. Great views of the old bull fighting ring and the harbor area as you walk up to the top. You do... More

People often confuse Alcazaba with Gibralfaro or think it is the same structure - it is not, you can buy (cheap) combined ticket though. Basically only the walls left, it used to be a lighthouse here in the past if I'm not mistaken. Quite a hike to reach the top, but it is best to enjoy one and ignore buses... More

The castle is at the top of a hill which is quite steep in places. If the weather is wet the walk can be very slippery so be careful. The walk up is pleasant and offers good views over Malaga and the Port. The views from the Castle are even better but there's little else to see of do there... More

I hiked up here from the Alazaba and it was a heck of hike. I found out later most people went up by bus and walked down. Well, I got my exercise in! Gorgeous views the entire way up. I wanted to see the sunset, but just before the sunset at 6--we were thrown out of the Castillo. However, there... More

My partner and I visited on a very wet day, we climbed up to the Castillo in dry weather and it was well worth the climb, the views around Malaga were stunning despite the cloud. Within 15mins or so the rain started and it poured down with no sign of letting up. We quickly walked around the castle walls and... More

Wonderful Castle at the top of rather a large hill. We took the decision to walk up and down, what an effort it just keeps on going up, took best part of half an hour from bottom to top and is unbelievably steep in places. When you are up there the views are fantastic across Malaga and towards Nerja. Some... More
