From the road, took pics of the castle c 1706 along with the nearby fishing boats at La Caleta Beach. A very nice photo op! San Sebastian Castle is not open to the public.

The castle is a huge piece of cultural history in Cadiz that goes all the way back to the Greek gods. It's been the setting for several films, including Die Another Day.

The castle is not open to the public but it's not so bad to join so many others just enjoying a stroll along the causeway. When the tide is out it is possible to walk along the beach and rocks beside the causeway.

Don’t be deceived that you can walk all the way to the very end. There’s a locked gate preventing entry onto the first island. Pleasant stroll though with views back towards Playa de la Caleta.

Actually the other castle is much better. This one is closed now, I assume because of Covid. But a nice sunset.

The fort is a lovely walk from the mainland and out to sea. With water on both sides, it really is a delightful experience. Unfortunately the Castillo is closed until further notice so we couldn't look around, but the walk alone made it worth the effort

The walk out to the castle is lovely and a great place to see the sunset and listen to the ocean. When the tide is out, small pools form and the light refracted from their surfaces can be quite magical near the end of the day.

The castle has been closed for a number of years and is unlikely to open again any time soon. A local informed me the internal structure is dangerous and falling down.

Enjoy to walk out to the castle, enjoy the views of Cadiz and the bay of Caleta, enjoy the walk back but don't expect to be able to look inside.

It was a nice walk out there but unfortunately it was closed. Whe it is open again, probably no time soon, it looks like it has potential to be interesting.
