At the centre is a statue to the Grand Captain in the middle of a fountain and also water jets which children play in. It is surrounded by cafes and shops. The Tendillas Clock strikes every 15 minutes but plays snippets of tunes on a guitar rather than chimes. Our hotel overlooked the square and it was lovely both in the day and at night.Visited September 2022Written 12 July 2023

The main focal piece of the plaza is the statue of the Great Captain, a 1927 equestrian sculpture in bronze, but oddly, its head is carved in white marble. There are also water jets that shoot up from the ground surface, would be a great place during to cool off during a hot summer day.Visited May 2023Travelled soloWritten 17 July 2023

I wouldn’t call it a destination to specifically locate but once you arrive, it’s lovely to look at as you take a deep breath from your hectic day. For those who need their Starbucks fix, there is one right there. Enjoy.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 November 2023

While becoming acclimated with the city, we ended up walking into this square where the statue was very prominent amongst the buildings.

This used to be the sight of the Roman forum. People still gather here but mostly to go to the cafes not to legislate.

The first evening we walked around the cathedral.
It was quite strange that there weren't many tourists in the area, until we got here.
This area is bustling with life.
Good hotels around the square.
All the streets leading to it are intertwined with leading fashion stores and tourists thirsty for shopping.
In the evening, here you will find the main activity of the young people, pubs and good restaurants.
Here you will also find a place to purchase a local cell phone card

The Plaza is the meeting point of several busy shopping and dining streets and has a number of interesting places to visit directly off of it. Very nice at night and day.

The plaza is not very big, but I was impressed by the building that surround it.... they are fascinating in terms of their architecture and the complexity of their facades. There was a Xmas market at the time, so we got to enjoy all kinds of local stuff including foods, There are many restaurants in the vicinity as well as pharmacies and even a supermarket. Nice place to people watch too,
