The journey up from town was steep, but the views from the top was impressive. There is not a lot to do up there and unfortunately, if you are going to the Alkazbar, you have to walk down and back up again.

Worth a visit but very steep if you are not fit and able. Fantastic views of Almeria and the coast. I was surprised that it was free to enter and staff very helpful.

The walk up to this statue is quite arduous, but your reward takes your breath away, the surrounding castle ruins are fascinating and date back to many centuries ago. The views of the integral part of the city are great.

Well worth visiting before venturing into the city, the exhibition will give you a better idea of the city. Introduction film is only in Spanish but the exhibition is in English and Spanish.
