Nice busy bustling city centre with some good shopping and bars/restaurants. Park at the Plaza de Toros underground car park (cheap) and walk 400 yards down Calle Granada to the top of the main shopping street. Good atmosphere. Be prepared to use your Spanish!

I’ve been going to Almeria on and off since 1991. I love it very much because I lived there for a while.

The museum holds a few interesting guitar replicas and photographs of guitar restoration. They could do with more instruments on show but ok to spend an hour on a wet May afternoon.
