Knowing something of the history of the Bauhaus and Weimar, I was looking forward to visiting the Bauhaus. It was smaller than I had imagined. I didn't learn anything which I did not know from previous studies.

Although small, this little exhibition gives a good introduction to the Bauhaus style and school of design. It is good for an hour or so maximum. There is a small shop on site. I think you can book a tour with one of the current...More

This museum is basically one large room. In it are examples of the Bauhaus furniture, household items, and architecture. The museum gives a thorough overview of the movement. There is a small second room with a revolving exhibit. Be sure to get the audio tour...More

The location is quite small so there are a limited number of items to look at. Despite this limitation the exhibit provides a nice overview of the Bauhaus movement and the different facets (architecture, art and furniture) They are working on a new museum building...More

We were a little disappointed at the size of this museum, whose exhibits are all cramped into a single large gallery. There were only a few paintings (a couple by Feininger, once by Kandinsky, one by Klee) and somewhat more prints and sculptures. Perhaps most...More

This is a small but very good collection of artefacts, photos and posters of this movement in architecture and interior design. I was very happy to see the cradle that featured in Neil McGregor's series "Germany, memories of a nation".

i'm sure the new museum will be a big improvement on this endeavour. but the current establishment is somewhat uninspired and very constrained. too many other things to see in Weimar to stop here i'm afraid.
