Wonderfully situated in the central square of the town this impressive building is just the right place for theatrical performances both on the stage and, for orators/politicians, from the balcony.

Historical place with German history from the National convent for the 1st constitution to the best German theater of Goethe & Schiller. Traditional style of the building for theater, symphony and opera. Very good artists and directors.

The theater was maintained very well, seats are quite comfortable for a almost 3 hour opera.
Little tips, do have a quick coffee/wine break on the theater balcony, looking at the historical square under moonlight, staring at the back of Goethe and Schiller.

Sitting behind the famous monument of Goethe and Schiller, the DNT houses the Weimar National Theatre and the Staatkapelle symphony orchestra. It is a must-visit in Weimar, for both music lovers and anyone visiting the beautiful town. The theatre features a good varieties of performance, from works by Goethe to Mozart's operas and Strauss' as well as modern theatrical works.

It is the most famous point of city center and good for photo shooting and nice place to watch a classic story theater there. During Christmas market they make a ice skating field and you can enjoy beside Goethe and Schiller :)

The theatre itself is closed now for renovations. But you can gaze on the outside, where the Weimar Republic was announced. And go in the lobby. A very, very historic place, with just a sense of place.

There're way more beautiful opera houses in Germany, but in this opera house you'd find more great works by Goethe and Schiller.

Very interesting small size opera house and the seat of Staatskapelle Weimar. I went to see Die Zauberflote and it was very good production with great music played by the very orchestra and sang and performed by very talented (also as actors) singers. Because it's small in size there is avery close contact with the musicians and the scenography is also being changed like in the old theatres which I find very amusing and fun. Overall, great place to spend the evening.
