The childhood church of Luther and Bach holds the Protestant ascetic and serves as a silent witness to the flow of history.

On Sunday afternoon, just before 1600, I was there to find some Bach memorials in the church. At the entrance, I was invited to join a baroque concert which starts at 1600. I payed 10EU and enjoyed the concert a lot. After the concert, I wandered in the church and found several interesting points concerning J. S, Bach.

Not to be missed. Apart from the fact that it's a lovely church inside, to be able to stand where Bach was christened, and Luther preached, is mind-blowing to say the least!

Martin Luther followers will be thrilled at Eisenach and especially at a visit to the Wartburg castle where Luther transkated the New Testament from Greek to German.

Ornate Lutheran church on 4 floors with exquisite balconies and a magnificent organ that had regular concerts, very bright with picturesque pulpit and very traditional coloured pews. Unusual crypt with decorated coffins in basement and helpful guides on German and English, I attended a concert for small orchestra performing the 6th Brandenburg concerto , was packed and immensely popular, well... I've visited this beautiful church many times and it just seems more and more beautiful each time! Right in the center of town, this is a hard to miss landmark and the quaint stalls in the courtyard are definitely worth a browse too.

It was lovely to be able to go inside the church (which closes at 5) and look around. The building is beautiful, and the art interesting. the organ looks amazing and I'd love to hear it sometime. The man whose job it was to lock up was very kind and let us stay until we were finished looking around, even... More

This is one of the oldest protestant churches and Martin Luther held sermons here. This is also the church where J S Bach was baptized. Although rebuilt several times, the funt is still the same. If your'e on visit in town, do have a look inside.
