It is a beautiful church near the city market and town hall. In front is a statue of Martin Luther who preached there.

Great views over Magdeburg n surrounds. Great map info panels on the railings. You note how little of the original town survived WW2. A testament to the stonework in these cathedrals. BTW its €2 entry and 277 steps to a secure viewing area. Worth it....More

Unfortunately when we have been in Magdeburg, it was closed. Than we learne that it doesn't function anymore as a church, but a convention event place. But you can immagine how beautiful it was, before the war.

The lesser of the two main religious buildings in the city but worth a look as there isn't much other architecture of note in Magdeburg

If you walk through Magdeburg you should make a quick stop there. It is near the city centre. Big avenues surrounded the church.

Sadly the war destroyed enough that the reconstruction has left merely a large indoor arena, suitable for meetings. The church outside is ok. Nice statue of Luther outside.

It's a lot of steps until you reach the viewing platform, but boy it's worth it. You get views of the whole city. Unbelievable how green Magdeburg is!There are also views of the Dom zu Magdeburg, Grüne Zitadelle, Elbauenpark and the Elbe. On nice weather...More

Massive disappointment at first when visiting this church. Martin Luther preached there in 1524, and I expected to find some kind of information about such a landmark. Today, the church serves as a concert hall, and the nave is completely empty, and has been fitted...More

The arts centre located in a former church, has renovated one of the towers into a free viewing platform. It's a heafty 200+ step climb up the tower, but the views from the top over Magdeburg are worth the effort.
