This is the oldest gothic cathedral in Germany (started in 1209, with a construction period of 300 years) with one of the tallest steeples in eastern Germany. It is next to the large Domplatz. Unfortunately there was substantial work going on in the cathedral during our visit, which hindered the full appreciation of this outstanding building.

It is impressive inside and out for its archetecture. Inside are unique statues at the back of the alter ( Saints Catherine and Mautice) and in a side room ( the vestal virgins). The baptismal font is made of red marble and part of the history of Otto the Great. His simple tomb and a more impressive one for his... More

Quiet area in the weekend, huge square in front. Beautiful Dom. Worth to visit when un Magdeburg. 2 eur fee to take pictures and make video inside. It is a peaceful place so keep your noisy talks and phones for outside.

For everyone coming to Eastern Germany: it's really worth a visit. Inside and outside. Close to the Dom you can find the Hundertwasserhaus, the last house, Hundertwasser has built.

This is a very historic, impressive cathedral which held great importance in the region, especially around 1,000 years ago. Well worth a visit.

Seems so modern with its clean uncluttered lines. The many tall clear leaded gallery windows introduce so much light. So pleasing that the whole effect is kept uncomplicated. The handful of religious artefacts adorning the Cathedral remind one of its gravitas in history.

One of the great churches in Germany. It was one of the first churches in the country. The gothic splendour is just breathtaking. Don't forget to visit the cloister. Huge anf calm.

The Cathedral of Magdeburg is quite impressive. I think, I took around 30-40min in the building; just strolling around and getting mesmerized by the architecture. In my opinion, it is not an outstanding church which I needed to see more than once in a lifetime but the details of the cathedral are worth seeing. If you are lucky, the sun... More
