Dresden itself is the story of humanity rising from its own ashes, and the Frauenkirche is the story of Dresden rising. There is something inspiring about it. I wondered if it had been a mistake to rebuild this lovely church, but I think the results...More

The church dominates hwt market square and rings it Meissen porcelain bells every 15 minutes. It is neat the first couple of times but is annoying in the middle of the night if you are staying in a hotel close by. The ringing of the...More

The 7 rows of white Meissen porcelain bells in the church tower were lovely to hear being played - not a booming sound like normal church bells. They only play 6 times a day on the 1/2 hour. Frauenkirche is located below the Dom on...More

Surprisingly spacious interior while the exterior is a mix of gothic and pastel-coloured-Germanic. Church bells (made of porcelain) tinkle agreeably throughout the day. Biggest surprise however was seeing the Supper at Emmaus depicted in the East Window, the first time I've seen this in glass.

Lovely renovated local church which is worth a look at. Grab the key from the information desk and climb up the tower. Great view over town at only 2€ per person.

Near or on the old city square, it is an easy visit. It is typical of other area churches and has a beautiful wooden alter and some interesting artwork.
