It was really a nice walk across the bridge and this bridge is wide enough to allow electric trams to travel both direction, car lanes and walking payment. There are even semi-circle balconies along the stretch of Augustusbrucke for pedestrains to seat down and rest. This is very thoughtful of the architect... More

This is a beautiful classic design bridge but not worth crossing over as there is not much on the other side.

Like an arm stretching out. It is a major site when you view Dresden. Great to see from afar. The river flowing below so picturesque.

Went over this bridge to go to the markets. Great to walk across with views of the old and new sides of Dresden. Easy to walk along both sides of the river from this bridge.

Nice bridge to go from old to new city. It fits perfectly in the panorama and offers great view to the old city.

The bridge has also been rebuilt following WW2, but it appears 'old' in character, and offers a magnificent view of the Dresden skyline. Get out for that walk to enjoy!

Augustusbrucke (Augustus Bridge) is the main crossing over the Elbe River, linking the historic city centre (south) to Innere Neustadt (north). You can walk this bridge or take a tram conveniently while sightseeing in Dresden. Historically, there seem to have been bridges located at this location since the 12th century. However, the present 9 arch sandstone bridge was constructed between... More

Dresden is a beautiful city, after almost total destruction in WW II the city was rebuilt with absolute attention to history. Be sure an include Dresden in your travels to Germany.
