During our AmaWaterways cruise through Germany, we stopped in Koblenz and on a tour we encountered this great find, a fountain and history column in Josef Görres Square with shops and restaurants around it. It was donated to the city in 1992 for the 2000th...More

a gift from the State to the city on the occasion of the 2000 anniversary, this monument has a great fountain in the shape of an early Roman wine transport barge and on top a multi-level depiction of the city history in a column. There...More

We had a walking tour of Old Koblenz which took us to this fountain/monument, which is quite like any other. It does tell an interesting story - but we woul not recommend going out of one's way to see it.

I wouldn’t trouble myself and go out of the way to see this fountain/monument but if you’re in the area it certainly deserves a 5 minute stop to check it out.

Located in a nice square (parking garage below) this column is worth a short stop. Made very well and with the guide explaining the levels - it is also very informative.

All cities seem to have their sculptures and fountains, but here is an interesting and entertainment no mix of the two. Not something that rates as a great attraction, but not to be missed if in the vicinity.

Kids would love this-it has so many aspects to it. I think it’s a good laugh and very clever in its creation and interaction of various parts.

A unique interesting fountain in a great location. Much more than the usual civic sculpture. Koblenz has some very notable and unusual water features throughout the City centre but this is the largest and best and represents centuries of history. Worth seeking out but you'll...More
