This lovely fortress is situated on top of a hill with a spectacular scenic backdrop. We took the cable car up to the fortress and would definitely recommend it for anyone planning to visit the fortress. Inside the fortress are multiple museums and exhibitions, but sadly most of it was all in German. However, I would still recommend it for... More

A very impressive piece of 1820 engineering dominates the skyline over Koblenz. With over 3000 years of documented human habitation this strategic height presents an unassailable fortress that provides incredible views over the Deutsches Eck and the merger of Mosel and Rhine rivers. Part of a series of interlocking and coordinated fortresses on the heights surrounding Koblenz this site should... More

Nestled along the junction of the Rhine and Mossel River is this majestic fortress. On top you will get an excellent view of the city of Koblenz which would be a treat for the shutterbugs like my wife. One would need to take a cable car to get here. The place is expansive. Their museum collections were quite impressive which... More

The fortress is very impressive. The size and extension of the walls is huge and the view from the fortress down to and beyond Koblenz spectacular.

We were on a cruise down the Rhine and chose Fortress Ehrenbreitstein as an extra trip. We took a ride over the Rhine and up to the fortress. Sometime the cable cars don't go if it's too windy but it is a neat ride. This was a really awesome fortress and I'm not a history buff like my husband. Our tour... More

If you like fortresses and spectacular views, this place is for you. The guide was dressed in 19th c. clothes and gave a very good historical presentation. Has history from Napoleon on through WWII.

It really worth going inside just only to have a great view on Rhein and Deutsch Eck! I do recommend to come after 4 or 5 when the sun is not high to take great pictures

Koblenz is a gem of a city within Southern Germany and Ehrenbreitstien is the breathtaking castle that sits high above said city. I planned a day trip to go to the castle from Bonn on the train. To get to the castle, I recommend buying the cable car package (sielbahn) to get the full experience of crossing the Rhine on... More

This UNESCO World Heritage fortress is across the Rhine from Koblenz and the most convenient way to reach it if you are a tourist is by cable car from which the fortress is a short walk. There is a small entry fee. I was part of a guided tour but it is just as easy to go on your own.... More

We took the seilbahn across the Rhine. It is then a short walk to the fortress. There are great views of the Rhine and Mosel. We went in the history museum. It is ok but nothing great,
