Exhibits everything that won a red dot design award from taps to TVs to bikes to sex toys! Very interesting for a long browse. The building itself is an incredible location, an old industrial hall with big old rusty pipes. Absolutely worth a visit - and so is the old mining site it's on (Zeche Zollverein).

The Red dot award is world famous. This museum opens my eyes, I feel humbled to be there and witness all the brilliant inventions that make our life easier and more interesting.

The most striking thing about the Red Dot Design Museum is the building and its subsequent renovation and refurbishment. The architecture, and the insertion of the new layers, of floating concrete mezzanines, stainless steel railings, and glass barriers, among the restored remains of the old Zeche Zollverein - the massive boiler plant of the coal mine and coking facility -... We went to the Red Dot Museum after checking out their website so knew what the entry ticket cost. Was very disappointed in the staff who tried to tell me the entry ticket was €9 whereas the website said it was €6. I pointed this out to her and she said we have some exhibit inside so we have raised... More

A multitude of gadgets and goodies that have been awarded the "red dot". As a first time visitor it was amazing to see and understand the concept of awards for inivitive products. Some everyday items that we all have as well as super products that were new. A place that is good for all ages although stairs difficult to deal... More

The Red Dot Design Museum ist located in the boirler house of "Zeche Zollverein", a former coal mine, now UNESCO World Heritage Site, in Essen/Germany. In this museum you can find all kinds of products awarded with the red dot design award. It is fun to walk around in the old hall with the original industrial equipment. You can touch... More

A bit weird to pay for looking at a sort of commercial presentation of thousands of Red Dot designs ranging from bathtubs to water glasses. The setting is spectacular though, inside the old industrial Zollverein Bauhaus architecture

We loved this museum. Where else can you see perfectly-lit award-winning bathtub designs hanging in the decaying carcas of a decommissioned coal mine? For folks interested in industrial design, the wide array of products and the innovative display and the juxtaposition witty the structure make this a "must see". For the rest of us, it's just plain cool. While there,... More

The museum is situated in an interesting industrial building. There are a few interesting items visible, such as a car hanging from the roof, and some modern design items. However, much of the exhibition consists of outdated computers and other technology. This is too recent to activate lost memories - I think it will take a few more decades before... More

This museum is the best part of the old coal mine to visit. The exhibitions are so innovative, so different and your imagination gets captured by the sheer cleverness of everything displayed. There are some really brilliant creative people out there who think of absolutely everything down to the smallest details. Don't rush around this museum, it takes time to... More
