This suspension bridge is quite feat of engineering. You can take the tram across it or walk across it for stunning views of the Rhine.

From as far back as the early 19th century there's been a river crossing from this spot more or less bringing you from the Altstadt area over to the leafy ,upmarket Oberkassel District ,during World War Two this bridge was severely damaged, demolished post war and replaced with a pontoon style bridge, from 1969-1976 under the guidance off and constructed from designs from engineer Friedrich Tamms this beautiful bridge was built and what a bridge.
It's 600 metres long ,one of the finest examples in Germany of a cable suspension bridge ,you can walk across it ,you can drive across it,you can take the tram across or you can float under it on many of the river cruises in operation, all in all its a great bridge to check out if you're planning a holiday to Dusseldorf.

The Oberkasseler Brücke is one of a series of bridges that span the mighty River Rhine, a beautiful structure that's just a joy to behold.
As far back as the early 19th century there has been a crossing point over to the Oberkassel district of Dusseldorf at this location, during world war two the bridge was damaged and finally demolished post war and replaced by a pontoon style bridge, between 1969 - 1976 from designs by architect Friedrich Tamms this new bridge evolved and what an amazing feat of engineering it is.
600 metres long and one of the best examples of a cable stayed bridge your likely to find in Germany, it's a lovely walk over the bridge ( or a tram ride or car journey ) were you can take in the stunning views of the River Rhine and the Rheinuferpromenade, we walked over the bridge on a freezing cold Sunday afternoon to the Oberkassel neighbourhood, great views,a brisk walk then warmed up in a pub over in Oberkassel and took the tram back over the bridge to the Christmas markets in Dusseldorf Old Town.
A beautiful bridge, most definitely well worth checking out if your planning a trip to Dusseldorf.

The Oberkassel Bridge is the connection between the city center and Oberkassel. Special feature: In the 1970s, the bridge, which was originally built further south, was moved to its current location
