I came upon the Rathaus while wandering around Aachen's streets, waiting to get into the Cathedral. I really liked the details of the front face.

Great way to start exploring Charlemagne and his history. The building is interesting, and the explanations and guide book are very informative. Plus it's open on Mondays when the museums are closed!

A visit to Rathaus is a step back in time. This imposing building dominates the square. Be sure to see it at night as it is beautifully lit. We "self guided" our own tour using "The Town Hall Brochure" that we received at the entrance desk. Price per person, 6 euro, non audio. Reading our way through took about 30... More

The Rathaus is a beautiful building from the outside, which of course makes you curious about the inside. While the inside was also beautiful, we were still very disappointed. They charge 6 euro per person (no discounts for the elderly, only for students) and all you get to see are empty rooms. No or very little explanation of what you... More

This is a must see from the outside while in Aachen. It is extremely close to the cathedral. The inside visit isn't bad but only OK but not too expensive and worth doing if you have 15-30 minutes to spare. They have some very nice free toilets accessible without going into the museum. There is a nice small bar/restaurant attached... More

Aachen City Hall dates from the mid 14th century. It's a beautiful example of the architecture from that period. It's near the cathedral in Aachen. There is a popular Christmas Market here in December.

A huge place right near the Aachen Dom you shouldn't miss. Photography is allowed but only without the flash. There's a lot of beautiful artwork here, and the upper floor is a sight to behold. Just a huge ballroom-type room that makes you want to dance. And I hate dancing, so that says how incredible I thought it really was.... More

Just lookinh from the distance you can tell it's an excellent work for a building. I love the gothic architecture, it always makes me think how they made it possible centuries ago when structures are done by hand.
