Because we didn't want to take a six hours round trip from Rostock to Berlin, we decided to visit the Schwerin Castle and Rostock instead. We took a short train from the pier in Warnemunde to Rostock. Trains depart Warnemunde every 15 minutes (at 03,...More

I must say that I was rather dissapointed with the service at Schwerin Castle. We did not find the staff helpful at all and rather rude. The place was also filthy. I daresay we wasted an afternoon in Mecklenburg on this place.

The location is gorgeous and the grounds are really nice. It's worth the visit even if you don't go in for the tour of the castle. I've been twice and both times was blessed with perfect weather which made it even better. It is amazing!

A must-do if in the area - We explored the gardens both around the Schloss and across the bridge (Schloss Gardens). It was free and beautiful even on a cloudy day. There is the option to pay admission to visit the interior of the building....More

A colleague who is a native to this area suggested a visit to the Schloss, particularly the museum, this past Saturday. You really can’t, nor should you, avoid walking around the Schloss. It’s a fantastic building from any angle with the inner courtyard being particularly...More

Wonderful working castle. Half is used by the state legislature and half is a tour of the castle with museum items and furnished rooms. Beautiful location and an easy walk around the castle for photos. There are magnificent trees on the property planted in 1860....More

When driving from Hamburg to Berlin, me and my girlfriend decided to stop at Schwerin to see a bit of an old town in Germany and to see the castle. The castle is huge and was not very crowded in January. It was cold but...More

The castle is just amazing, with all these towers, gardens and furnished rooms!! Like you are travelling back in time.

This is a short train ride from Warnemunde Germany where the cruise lines dock. Most people take the incredibly long trip to Berlin which then doesn't give you much time. We booked our train tickets in advance and fell in love with this beautiful town.

The Castle wasn’t open on Mondays, however the gardens were. We walked for over an hour around the gardens and had lunch in the outdoor area, The grounds are spectacular so much to see well worth a visit for an afternoon sightseeing

The castle is very beautiful, but it is still under renovation, so the outside view is a bit underwhelming. The park and a view of a lake is amazing. Museum is nice (round tour of the rooms), but the expositions of porcelain, guns and silverware...More

Self guided tours are 8.50 euros and an audio pack is another 2 euro's. In terms of travel from Berlin to there I would suggest going to the schwerin web site for more details and trip packages. Hope this helps.

I booked an excursion with the Celebrity cruise ship during our port stop at Warnemunde. My suggestion is to take a bus tour around the city & a visit to the Schwerin castle if you don't want the long hours to Berlin.
