Get a boat trip to fully explore the maze of waterways that make up the warehouse district. Try for one with a commentary.

Hamburg’s warehouse district has retained the architecture from earlier years. The canal system and the multi-storey warehouses is an important part of Hamburg’s history. The district is best viewed by walking through the area. Make sure that you look up to see the lifting systems....More

If you want to live Hamburg, you can´t do it completely without walking around the Hafencity neighbourhood! You don´t need to take a 2 hour boat tour (20EUR) to enjoy the Speicherstadt, you can do it by just walking around and crossing the numerous bridges!...More

This is one of the places to visit. Enjoy the walk up and down the canals and there are many places to sit and relax even with food and a drink. You can get the 111 bus which also goes around this area.

Speicherstadt is an excellent example of architecture in North Germany. Its location surrounded by water is very pleasant.

We know this place for so many years and it has changed. Its now a kind of a trendy upper market area. We went through by a sightseeing Boat and it was very interesting to watch those Buildings being converted...

The warehouse District for me was slightly uninteresting place to go. I think in hindsight we should have booked a tour to learn more about it so that would be my advice.

The old warehouse buildings are a great part of Hamburg near the port. The buildings have been maintained and restored nicely. Would recommend to any visitor.

Sorry, I can not remember as I did not hire that, my company did, but there are many and prices and tours are similar. There is a tourism office in the Harbor (next to the Hard Rock) were you can ask for recommendations... More

Camping Buchholz looks to be as close as you can get and that is not in the city centre, but like previous advice said, try to park outside Hamburg and use a hostel.
