Hamburg's most famous street may have cleaned up its act a bit, but it is still authentically seedy and a little bit thrilling. Of course there are places you'd do well to walk past without a second look, but there are also interesting bars and restaurants as well as lots of modern buildings of architectural intrigue. The actual street that... More

The Reeperbahn is like a schizophrenic, pretty tame in the day as tourists wander up and down it with their kids and then in the evening it transforms into a still edgy den of iniquity. Try it at your peril, it will be both brilliant and scary all at the same time

This would best be described as the red light district of Hamburg. I visited with quite a large group of work colleagues at the end of a business trip. Plenty of bars, stripe clubs, live sex shows etc. ok if you are into that I guess. In saying that we ended up at a wonderful Irish bar with an excellent... More

Hamburg's Red Light, where just about everything goes on. Much larger than Amsterdam's. It is good to see the other less conventional side of the world lives. Lots of bars, and clubs, good music venues.

Very busy at weekends. Was surprised to see a lack of police around. People walking round with drinks in the street. Fine, drink and have a good time, but saw a brutal fight whilst there, which was a bit off putting. All the bar/restaurant staff helpful and friendly.

Unless you're after the sex clubs or visiting the Beatles haunts, this is a place best avoided. Dirty and dodgy - safe in the daytime but not very pretty.

After hearing so many things about the famous Reeperbahn over the years it was great to experience it in all it's glory. I visited late afternoon and stayed until later in the evening it was great to see so many different types of people and walks of life. There is bars everywhere, catering for everyone's taste - if you want... More

Trading on an old reputation and the link to the Beatles in the early 1960s, so on the Hamburg tourist trail. Unfortunately nothing like the internet tourist pictures suggest. It is run down, rough and nasty, on a characterless 1950s strip. No charm at all and about exciting as visiting Basildon on a bad day. Stag night bars, sex shops... More

Activities start at 8 pm. Walk the Reeperbahn with its many bars and sex shops. At the historic polizei building on David St., across from Burger King, turn left to walk by the most adult portion of the district. Better, IMO, than the RL district of Amsterdam.
