A bit off the beaten track stands this one floor small palace or house that was very simply appointed and most of the furniture was authentic. The private tour was done in German and they gave you a sheet of paper in English so you can follow each room. I believe the Germans got a bit more history than the... More

It was a guided tour only and in German. Even if I do speak it , I would have preferred it in English as I had to translate on French for my parents. However the guide provided us with a nice leaflet full of explanations in French. Nice stroll to get there and you feel like you have the place... More

There is no audioguide for this, you must go on tour in done in German. German speakers were clearly getting a lot more info than on the placard we got. Mostly underwhelming compared to Sanssoucci and the New Chambers, so I would not recommend this if you are short on time (we did not get to see the New Palace... More

Berliner Residenz Konzerte consisted of a dinner at the Palace with excellent food: salad, filet and pear tart, and a concert of Mozart's masterpieces. Considering they were feeding 150 people I expected not great food of a German fare. Everything was wonderful. The salad fresh, the steak properly done (medium rare) with lovely vegetables. The pear tart could have been... More

With only eleven rooms, Charlottenhof Castle is hardly a palace; but as a country cottage for the crown prince and his wife, it made a lovely retreat. Renowned architect FrederichSchinkel designed it following the Greek style he favored over heavier Roman Neoclassicism, and the main reception room features his distinctive star-studded blue sky, both arched over nooks and as a... When I visited this castle, I noticed it was one of the best preserved castle around the "castles complex" on Potsdam. This is a much smaller castle, but probably the garden around it would make it better. Even though is a nice castle, the fountain and the garden would still make the experience much richer, and so I can only... More

The guide was very nice and because all of the people were speaking English she explained everything only in English and not in German. It was nice and fun to hear all the stories and explanations.

It's the only place in whole Sanssouci Park, where you need to join guided tour to get inside. Tours start every hour or when the group reaches minimum number of participants. We decided not to wait, as we just missed the tour, and we would have to wait for nearly an hour. So instead we wandered around the palace, enjoying... More

I visited here one rainy afternoon with a friend who had never been to Potsdam and while obviously not as impressive as Schloss Sanssouci it was interesting to visit and about time I did (it being five minutes from my front door!) When we arrived the lady on the desk offered that we could wait a short while for our... More
