Lovely peaceful park. Well used by all ages especially cyclists. Occasional naturist. Lake, historic buildings as far as you can see. Good transport links back to Potsdam also to Wannsee and Berlin

Good balance of natural trees, topiary, lakes, bridge, buildings. Serene early morning and evening, the best time to appreciate. Should also visit Glenicke Bridge where spies from East and West were exchanged -- more exciting than checkpoint charlie. The garden was in East Germany while the residential areas east of Heliger See was in West Berlin.

A bit underrated sibling of the Sansoucci Park, Neuer Garten is definitely my place of choice for a stroll or a picknick. Perhaps the architecture here is less impressive, but it's still worth to see the Marble Palace and Cecilienhof, while the flower gardens and surrounding lakes will provide great opportunity to sit down for a while and just enjoy the nature.

Even on a cold damp day it was a lovely walk around the Holy Lake. Lots of feature points to find along the way.

For our second visit to Potsdam we decided not to go to the bigger sights or the main park. Instead we turned right and walked around the Neuer Garden. We walked around in a circular route visiting each building. There was a relaxing bar at the furtherst point which was a great place for a local beer. The restaurant was very busy too if you wanted to eat. The main house was unfortunately covered in scaffolding but that gives us a reason to return in a few years time. It was a lovely few hours with some great views.

What a beautiful and authentic English Tudor style summer palace that Crown Prince Wilhem had built for his princess Princess Cecelia.
A historical place where Stalin met with Truman and Churchill over the state of countries post WW2.
Now the restaurant has just been refurbished and open to public so it would be lovely to dine here plus it’s a hotel as well!

An English-style landscaped garden-park adopted by many aristocrats and royal families throughout Europe in the C19th.
This is a public space much used for sunbathing - clothed and unclothed.
Other than the main elements of the Marmor Palace and Schloss Cecilienhof (of Potsdam Agreement fame), the park has three less well-known elements:
The Hasengraben - a 350m long canal constructed by Frederick the Great in 1737 to link the Heiliger See (Holy Lake) to Jungfernsee. Friedrich William IV apparently use to row via the canal from the Marmor Palace to the church on the shore of Sacrow every Sunday.
Schwanenbrücke - originally a wooden footbridge that crosses the northern end of the Hasengraben, linking Neuer Garten to Schwanenalle. The current bridge is post-1989. The original is awaiting renovation having fallen into the waters sometime after 1945 but before 1989. The intention is, once funds are in place, to recover and use the original stone-work.
Grünes Haus - which may be interpreted as German wordplay - there aren't any glass greenhouses in the park, but there is this green painted building that acted as accommodation for the park's gardeners.

I would have liked to have seen this in the spring, as June the grass was drying out, so not as nice.
But still a nice place even if cycling through

We walked through the gardens and spent a good hour just wandering and looking around. Many people were sunbathing or picnicking. We concluded our walk at the beer garden on the edge of the garden. Worth a stroll for a relaxing time.
