The formal gardens are large and well laid out on the old vineyard site below the palace building framed by the disciples of Bacchus and flanked by the grave of Friedrich the Great (big fan of the potato apparently).

Very big park. You can easily walk for few hours in it. You'll also see the palace and other historical buildings

Treasures everywhere as said for the Sancoucci gardens and a very variegated succession of constructions everywhere. Again, I give 3 because there's no signage and it is very hard to navigate.

We had the best time not in the palaces or well designed gardens, but in the less visited spots in the tranquility of the more "natural" parks and the less visited monuments. We did not enter any palace that charged admission fee, just looked from the outside ( the orangery for example) and it was sufficient for us. The "church... More

Very much enjoyed the gardens but it is a very large estate requiring lots of walking. Wear comfortable shoes and take your time. Easy to wear yourself out quickly here. Very pretty.

If you have a few hours left on a nice day a stroll in the gardens around Potsdam that are all world cultural heritage is a must. Most popular is the Park around Sanssouci castle but there are at least two more close by the old city that are equally beautiful: Neuer Garten and Park Babelsberg. My recommendation: start at... It is the end of March and all the flowers are beginning to bloom and the shrubbery become lively again. I enjoyed walking throughout the gardens. What a beautiful, peaceful place!

Getting to Potsdam from Berlin is easy, just take the train. Visit the gardens, they are beautiful. The have vines and roses and ols statues. The palace itself is small, not sure if it is worth a visit.

Enjoyed the bus tour here from Potsdam railway station, we were only there a few hours but that was enough to see the Potsdam Gardens in all its splendure - when you want to take a landscape photograph and sculptures this would be ideal. In a country with amazing gardens, this is very good indeed.
