This is my most precious impression of a walk in the park of Sanssouci. I was here on an annual walk, which was timed to coincide with the annual ball in Potsdam as part of my dance troupe. Getting to the pavilion is not very easy, but it's worth it. We were at the time when the pavilion was practically... More

What a delight to the eye, such design, such color. The fantasy continues inside, where your eyes will see what money and art and vivid imaginations can conceive and create. Enjoy!

When I visited, you couldn't go inside. So basically, I walked by, though wow that's kinda ugly, and walked on. I understand that the palace was built because of Frederick's fascination with all things Chinese. But it's really a poor representation of Chinese culture and there isn't much to do.

A really unusual house with life-size gold statues in the middle of Sans Souci gardens. Stroll along this gardens and you will find fountains, vegetations and even the odd squirel.

South of the Hauptallee, about 1/3rd from the fountain at the base of the terraced park, stands this other-worldly garden pavilion, built 1755-1764, copying the then fashionable style of Chinoiserie, a mixture of rococo elements and parts of Chinese architecture. Interestingly, the statues of Chinese people adorning the building bear very European features. Architectural evidence of a not-quite successful attempt... More

When getting deeper into the gardens you'll find that small Chinese House. It served as a place for small social events for royal family. Nice exterior and interior. A nice break in a stroll around the park.

The outside looks beautiful with the gold leaf all around the round building but the inside I was not impressed. Maybe it was the end of the day and we were exhausted. Other buildings are much nicer and more history to them. I basically walked in and walked out.

The greater park is a vast expanse to explore. I call it a vast expanse as I had to cycle really far from one point to another and I'm still considered within Sanssouci Park. Plenty of sites within the park itself, including this one which is the Chinese Tea House. I chuckled at this as this doesn't resemble anything of... More
