The Orangery Palace of Sanssouci is the last and largest palace building built in Sanssouci Park. It can be reached via several beautifully laid out terraces. The Italian-style palace is based on the Villa Medici in Florence, which served as an architectural model for the Italian-loving builder Wilhelm IV, so in summer you can feel a touch of southern flair. Especially in the evening hours the place has its own special charm. Beside the very beautiful outside area, which is lined with palm trees and other southern plants, you can visit the splendid inside rooms of the castle for little money. These rooms are still used for the storage of many potted plants in the park during the winter months.
I can only warmly recommend everyone who is visiting Potsdam to make a detour to the orangery to dive into another world which is actually many kilometres away.

Very nice, you feel like in Italy. Close to the ticket house at the main entrance. Otherwise, the park is really a big area,so should you wish to see the Sanssouci Manor, then Neues Palais and then Orangerie...some 8-9 km to walk!

This park with palaces and others tourists points, it´s the most important place to know in Potsdam. You will spend between 3-4 hours to know the main important points in this park - Sanssouci Palace, Neues Palace, Chinesisches Haus and the windmill. If you have one entire day will be fantastic and will be possible to explore more things - including the Orangerieschloss. You can buy the tickets in anyone of palaces - and you can get an discount buying the tickets to all palaces together (if you intend to know at least two palaces) - sometimes they don´t tell you about this. I suggest you start the visit in the Neues palace because the lines to buy the tickets are minors, and after visit the Sanssouci palace.

I fully agree with the reviews of Lorelei and Dohfar. I wish I had read before visiting. The big problem is that no one warns that the tour is in German only. You only find out at the time when they give you an old card with a very small explanation. I had the misfortune to get a rude guide that aggressively asked me if I had bought the permission to photograph (it is a bracelet). Of course I had and was using it, completely visible. There were no apologies. Advice? do not go, stay in the gardens. The flowers and birds are friendlier.

Nice bulding, a bit worn out like all the rest in that park. Can only see it from outside. Apart from architecture, the landscape could use a good gardener and some investment as well.

There are 2 parts, the tower and the palace itself. The tower has a short climb to the top with a view of the park. The palace contained only a few rooms to show, you have to wear special slippers for this palace which i loved haha!

When I got here after getting lost around the Park Sansoucci I thought this was the best and biggest palace of all Sansoucci Park, but it is not. Anyway I loved this place l, and for me it os one the places you have to visit in Potsdam if you want to feel special. There is some kind of magic around this place.
And if you love plants you will be amazed with this building, because there are thousands of beautiful colourful plants. Don't think about it! Visit it! And next to this placd there is the Drahenhaus Cafe!

What an incredible place! As a whole, the Orangerie Palace is ingeniously laid out: a combination of greenhouse, apartments for visiting king and Queen, painting gallery, and observation deck! Though you can't tour the greenhouse (the plants are mostly outside anyway, in the warmer months) it still adds a great deal of charm and accessibility to the palace. The visiting 'King's Rooms' has an extensive set of furniture with the most intricately detailed inlay I've ever seen. The porcelain in the 'Queen's Rooms' is equally impressive. The 'Raphael Salon', which connects the two apartments is impressive in it's scale and design, but the copies of paintings by Raphael are, at times, not up to par with the originals. The walk up a beautiful antique spiral staircase may not be for everyone, but the reward is great when you get to the rooftop to witness the wonderful views. All in all, a beautiful and romantic place to visit. One of the many at Sans Souci Park.

We visited Potsdam just for a day whilst on a short break from Berlin with out ABC welcome card, we were only there for a day and had no idea how beautiful the place was or how much there was to do. The orangerie was stunning and the views and gardens were beautiful, well worth the walk up the steps.
